Job Description

The successful candidate will be part of a team that manages the school’s PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS) and will provide for, development, data analysis, support, and advice to end-users of The ISF PowerSchool SIS.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Development

  • Participate in a variety of planning and development activities (e.g. planning meetings, committees, user interviews, etc.) to develop and maintain custom plugins for PowerSchool.
  • Create and maintain custom pages and plugins in PowerSchool.
  • Create web-based solutions to augment existing software platforms.
  • Prepare a variety of materials (e.g. technical specifications, user manuals, project documentation, flowcharts, etc.) to document custom development.
  • Assist with the integration of PowerSchool with other application systems.

 

System Administration and Reporting

  • PowerSchool day to day system administration including scheduling, attendance, student data management, faculty data management, emergency/medical and health management, registration, and more.
  • Design and administer reports utilizing PowerSchool’s built-in tools, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Creates custom reports, manages the PowerSchool report card process, and assists in class scheduling setup.

 

Training

  • Provide support for the creation and delivery of training materials for stakeholder training.
  • Perform one-on-one and group PowerSchool training with staff.

 

General responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively with staff to perform job responsibilities as outlined.
  • Actively and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Shares a commitment to the success of the mission, goals, and objectives of the ISF.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding student and staff information in order to remain in compliance with legal requirements and to maintain a professional work environment.
  • Keep current with trends, developments, research, and initiatives relevant to student information systems and PowerSchool.

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, with at least 3 years of server, database, and development experience. (Preferred in PowerSchool SIS administration and development)
  • Experience in programming and application design with HTML, CSS, JavaScript PHP
  • Knowledge of database administration and performance tuning in My SQL, MS SQL, and Oracle Database
  • Strong customer service orientation, responding to customers (staff, parents, and students) needs in a timely manner
  • Good command of Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English
  • Organized and extremely detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated, mature, and able to work independently as well as be a team player
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical skills
