System Technicians are responsible for making regular, systematic improvements in the safety, efficiency, and reliability of equipment in their assigned systems. The Systems Technician is also responsible for implementing continuous improvement, being a resource to support new system installations and sharing his/her knowledge with the rest of the organization.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess condition of, troubleshoot failures of, repair and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on production equipment (packaging and processing), building and utilities and all associated equipment. 
  • Creation and optimization of the preventative maintenance plans for equipment in assigned area.  Works with Maintenance Planner to ensure all PM plans are in SAP.
  • Review and identification of spare parts to maintain in inventory for equipment in assigned area.  Work with Storeroom coordinator to stock appropriate min/max.
  • Identification of recurring problems and the development of effective solutions to reduce the level of unplanned maintenance.
  • Ensuring all PM / planned work orders are coordinated through the Area Maintenance Lead and Planner.
  • Training Shift Technicians in maintenance of assigned equipment and keeping them fully informed about any modifications being made.
  • Supporting Shift Technicians in tackling complex work orders.
  • Application of predictive maintenance technologies and implementation of condition-based monitoring systems on assigned systems in coordination with contract reliability partner.
  • System reliability improvement through on-going efforts of area team, as well as active participation with Engineering in the design of new systems.
  • Work with Reliability Manager and Engineering to ensure all projects associated with their equipment is coordinated based on the current CVS model.
  • Participation in the general administration of the Maintenance Department through the effective use of SAP and Outlook as well as involvement in safety, housekeeping and Best Practice initiatives.
  • Job function requires flexibility in schedule and after-hours responsibilities.

 

  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  •  Two years of college or equivalent in maintenance related area plus five years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Broad overall knowledge of plant flow, operation and utilities

 

 

  • Good theoretical knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot low and high voltage -  D.C., low and high voltage - single and 3 phase A.C. circuits and all related equipment both power and logic
  • Ability to engineer small projects in all fields of maintenance
  • Good theoretical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment and hydraulic, pneumatic and vacuum systems
  • Ability to design and fabricate using materials such as sheet and structural metals both ferrous and non-ferrous, plastics, etc.
  • Basic ability to operate machine tools
  •  Knowledge in machine design and strengths of materials
  •  Knowledge and skills in safe rigging techniques preferred. 
  •  Good operating skills of equipment such as fork trucks, personnel lifts, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of hand tool application, operation and repair
  • Good knowledge of GMP's and clean design methods
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work long hours (including 12 hour rotating shifts) under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and /or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs and do repetitive bending and twisting
  • Ability to lift up to 50  pounds
  • Ability to train other associates

  1. Determine maintenance schedules for assigned equipment
  2. Determine stock levels and suppliers for replacement parts for assigned equipment
  3. Determine modification needs pertaining to reliability improvements and cost reduction
