Analog Devices (NASDAQ: ADI) designs and manufactures semiconductor products and solutions. We enable our customers to interpret the world around us by intelligently bridging the physical and digital worlds with unmatched technologies that sense, measure and connect.

The Analog Garage mission is to identify and develop new technologies, capabilities, and business models critical to Analog Device’s future success. Located in Boston, the Garage is a high-energy, fast-paced innovation driver for ground-breaking ideas. The Systems Engineering Team brings to life innovation within the Analog Garage and puts it in customer hands. We bring ideas to life using hardware and software best practices. Your work will shape the future of ADI’s products.

As a Systems Applications Engineering Intern in the Garage, you will collaborate with our advanced algorithm and software teams to bring up proof of concept and customer demonstration systems that showcase our state-of-the-art machine learning and signal processing algorithms. In this role, you will also work with our customer-facing business units and application teams to understand customer requirements and select appropriate hardware and software libraries that highlight the Garage’s innovation and business value. You will work with a variety of embedded systems, software architectures, and lab equipment to define and develop systems that accelerate projects through various phases in their life cycle.

Build system prototyping/evaluation lab setups. You will collaborate with our System Architects, Algorithm Designers, Software and Hardware Engineers to develop prototyping and evaluation systems, including data collection routines and test plans that follow hardware/software best practices, and ensure that the project’s data collection phase services the project requirements. You will create documentation for fellow developers and users of the system.  You will integrate hardware and software, bring-up and debug the system, take robust measurements and document the results to make sure the system meets requirements.

Build and present customer demos. As a Systems Apps Intern, you will work with System Architects and stakeholders to interact with customers and elicit customer requirements, demonstrate the team’s work, and identify business value for the project. You will also work with customers to ensure that the project demo functions as intended, and modify the deliverables to suit evolving requirements. Our customers can be within ADI (business units and technology groups) or external to ADI.

Implement advanced algorithms on embedded systems. You will collaborate with our System Architects, Algorithm Designers, Software and Hardware Engineers to validate algorithms in high-level programming languages (e.g., Python or MATLAB) using frameworks available at your disposal. Our algorithms often involve traditional computer vision and DSP routines, as well as state-of-the-art deep neural network models. You will define hardware requirements, select software libraries, write new software and finally validate that the embedded algorithm matches the expected performance. You will apply modern software-engineering best practices in all of your work. You will document and present your work to the team. Your final result will be bringing the algorithms to life and putting them in customer hands.
