ADI’s Wireless Platform Group is seeking an RF Systems applications engineer with strong Software Defined Radio (SDR) experience to join our applications team. Possessing advanced and practical knowledge of wireless radio architecture, and integrated circuit capabilities, you will work with ADI’s team of system hardware engineers, system architects, technology teams, and lead customers to develop, validate and provide customer support for system platforms that demonstrate ADI’s industry leadership and technology in 4G, 5G and O-RAN solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in, as well as practical hands-on experience with, O-DU, Open RAN and/or RAN products and a passion for influencing development for a disruptive product and solution in a competitive marketplace. The engineer is expected to have some experience in bringing up, maintaining, and upgrading 4G/5G deployments.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in close collaboration with a cross functional team of Engineers on hardware debug, development, and characterization of the Wireless Product Group’s Integrated Transceiver products.
- Develop and debug hardware and software for product and component characterization.
- Assist in O-DU bring up and usage for evaluation of next gen ADI System on Chip (SoC).
- Work with software team to define the interface enabling usage of the next gen ADI SoC.
- Evaluate product performance and functionality, collect, and analyze synchronization measurements, and analyze data.
- Assist in debugging system level performance/operational issues using next gen ADI SoC particularly around throughput analysis, EVM performance, 3GPP conformance, ACLR performance, SEM analysis, network synchronization issues.
- Work closely with engineering teams to define the requirements and to drive the timely and quality release of next gen ADI SoC products and features
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate in electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer science, or similar, minimum BSc degree, MSc preferred
- 2+ years professional experience in either
- Product management radio or DU
- Radio system engineering
- Preferred: Knowledge of / exposure to 3GPP and Open RAN architectures and standards, 4G LTE, 5G NR.
- Required: Proficient in software programming languages such as Python, Linux scripting, MATLAB, C, .NET, etc. for configuration of software defined radios, lab automation, and algorithm development and verification.
- Required: Experience with test tools including Protocol Analyzers, O-DU network emulators, Wireshark, Channel Emulator, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Viavi TM500
- Preferred: An intermediate background in network performance management. Fundamental knowledge in all packet-based protocols such as TCP/IP.
- Preferred: Experience in Test Execution and log analysis of LTE/5G 3GPP protocol test plans or LTE Inter-Operability testing
- Preferred: Experience in identification, analysis and mitigation of issues reported from internal and customer lab tests.
- Preferred: Intermediate understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, JTAG is needed.
- Willing to travel and be able to work well in a fast-paced technical environment
- Self-motivated, willing to take on challenges, and aggressive at driving for results even under pressure.
- An enquiring, flexible attitude to work and learning.
- Strong communication skills.
