Job Description

We seek to hire a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a multi-functional team that designs and supports our vision for North American Rail Automation. You will be working closely with domain experts, architects, developers, and testers to develop and support the Positive Train Control (PTC) initiative. PTC is shaping the landscape of the rail transportation industry for decades to come and will be used as a backbone for future technologies that will lead to network optimization and an autonomous rail network. We're looking for a self-driven individual who is motivated to learn new things. It would be best to have a strong sense of ownership through all stages of a project, including final customer review and sign-off. Requirements: 8+ years of experience in Systems Engineering 5+ years of successfully leading cross-functional teams Experience with working in and leading agile development environments Experience in designing and supporting mission-critical systems Interviewing skills, to talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions Listening skills, to understand what people say and to detect what they might be hesitant to say Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the actual underlying needs, establish appropriate tracing mechanisms and links between project artifacts, and determine solution ideas from requirements Observational skills to validate data acquired via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation Writing skills to communicate information effectively to customers, marketing, managers, and technical staff Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with constantly evolving information Interpersonal skills to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project partners (such as customers, product management, and engineering) Modeling skills to represent requirements information in graphical forms that augment textual representations in natural language, including using modeling languages already established in the development organization Good to have: Experience in reviewing code for accuracy and functionality Experience in software testing Experience with multinational teams Experience with CI/CD Why Siemens Mobility?
