How will you make an impact?
This Systems Reliability Engineer will be responsible for administration and engineering within the on premise and Cloud environment. This resource will have to be able to think on their feet and be able to troubleshoot items as they happen without specific documentation. This resource will be required to maintain SLA's resolving escalated incident tickets and issues along with implementation of new process and procedures and automation. This individual will be a team player that will be able to work with multiple technical skillsets merging ideas into reality. The resource must be proficient in UNIX/Linux, Windows and Vmware. This resource will be required to drive ideas showing significant progress in a timely manner.
What will you do?
Support of hybrid, on-premise and cloud environment.
Proficient in UNIX/Linux, Windows/VMware and Altiris Administration with the ability to support migrations/upgrades/patching along with implementation of new ideas and concepts.
Analysis of systems, identify discrepancies and recommend best practice and implement throughout the environment.
Troubleshooting and root cause analysis to ensure resolving issues permanently in the environment.
Implementation and use of tools and automation such as Ansible, Service Now, Jenkins, Cloud (AWS/Azure) etc.
Develop automation where appropriate to reduce or eliminate routine manual tasks
Create and edit runbooks where needed for both on premise and the cloud routine procedures and operations
Set and enforces standards, policies and operational practices around the deployment of system software and security patches. Ensures that all such standards are documented, available and used by the Operations staff.
How will you get here?
Education
Combined minimum of 5 years’ higher education and/or work experience in systems design and/or automation.
Experience
1+ years of related technical work experience physical and virtual server infrastructure systems
Experience with cloud technologies preferred
Experience with AWS in both implementation and design is highly preferred
Working and troubleshooting experience in the following areas: UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware, patching solutions, scripting, various tools, and automation, with a focus on Windows overall
Scripting skills for automation and ability to learn new tools and make run books where needed, enabling both on premise and cloud environments using tools such as Ansible, Jira, Stash, Confluence
Tool & Technology Skills
Experience in the Unix administration/engineering
Windows Server platforms - administration, troubleshooting, automation
VMware vSphere 6.0 and prior experience
VRops (Operations Manager) configuration experience
Service Now tool experience
