You will be part of a team that crafts and supports our vision for North American Rail Automation. You will be working closely with subject matter experts, architects, developers, and customers (both current and potential) on the Siemens' Back Office Server (BOS), which is part of the Positive Train Control (PTC) initiative. PTC is shaping the rail transportation industry's landscape for decades to come and will leverage the company as a backbone for future technologies that will lead to network optimization and an autonomous rail network.
We are searching for a candidate who will ultimately become a subject matter expert of all things PTC BOS! This person will work together with our internal and external partners to assist with writing requirements for change requests to our product and ensure that all stakeholders cooperate with those requirements. A crucial part of the position is to understand how these requirements affect the product as a whole and to assist our development and test teams with any analysis, misunderstandings, or other support tasks that may arise. This position will be a hands-on position to become the SME for the BOS and be able to execute tests internally, assist with the analysis of tests, and help prioritize timely resolution of any problems.
Key Responsibilities:- Draft change requests based on current and future requirements for our products
- Assist with functional testing activities when necessary
- Support the development of test plans as an SME for our Back-office Server Product
- Have the desire to learn new technologies and develop new skills
- Approve test plans for both functional and non-functional testing activities
- Trigger and analyze regression testing results
- Understand and run non-functional tests
- Help with the validation of product performance
- Work together in a team to plan and undertake work
- BS Degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
- Analyze needs and to derive test cases
- Expertly interface with peers, customers, and management
- Work independently and with little supervision
- Ability to be part of a 24X7 on-call rotation if necessary
- Experience in an agile environment
- Experience in collaborating with customer and providing technical feedback in a customer-friendly manner
- Experience with DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, Cloud (AWS), Linux
- Experience with SCADA systems, including WINCC OA
- Experience with multinational teams and locations
