Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems is currently seeking a Project Lead Engineer - Transmission and Distribution to join our team. This position will be based remotely. Position Overview: The primary purpose of this Project Lead Engineer - Transmission and Distribution position is to provide Utility engineering project oversight and project management support while also applying engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power systems studies and, Distribution System Design & Planning functions, substation automation, and utility protection and control engineering support. We assist customers at every stage of the power system: from substation and distribution system design to renewable energy and smart grid engineering, from safety and reliability-focused studies to power quality and grounding related audits and analyses. In this function you will: Provide applied engineering and technical consultation for utility customers in the areas of power systems studies, planning and design, reliability analysis, and system protection. Electric utility distribution circuit analysis for loading, voltage, reactive power, reliability, balancing and coordination. Provide technical solutions to utility customers that may involve engineering planning or design, substation automation, feeder automation, reliability analysis or design improvements, and protection systems settings. Self-management of assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates. Project Management support for managing customer relationships and teamwork commitments. Interpret specs and customer inquiries and design technical proposals and pricing for customers. Mentor or lead other engineers on large sized projects. Ability to run large studies and projects unassisted. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 7 years of experience working with or for an electric utility in an operations, planning, or design capacity Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future No relocation is being offered for this position Preferred Qualifications: Advanced / Specialty Skills Reliability Analysis Distribution System Design Distribution System Planning Substation Design Protection & Control Design Substation or Feeder Automation Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Project Management Master's Degree in Engineering Experience with CYME software PE License 10+ years of experience Bachelor’s degree focused in power IEEE Senior Membership Active in Local IEEE Position Criteria: Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the company’s safety program Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings Possess and maintain a valid & unrestricted driver's license Electric utility experience as a Planning, Project or Design engineer either employed directly by a utility or as a contract support engineer Experience with electrical engineering analysis software (CYME preferred) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Advanced / Specialty Skills Distribution System Planning or Design Substation or P&C analysis/design Substation or Feeder Automation Project Management Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices.
