Daimler Trucks Asia’s HDT (Heavy Duty Trucks) Opportunities
HDT trucks are one of the flagship product in Daimler Trucks Asia and we are leading all HDT product projects in FUSO. The product target of our product is benchmark position in the major customers buying criteria such as fuel consumption, active safety. In order to achieve the stretch targets, the state-of-art technologies need to be implemented prior to the competitors. The plans/developments are often proceeding with the global projects together with Daimler Truck Europe/America, and this helps us a lot to implement the new features earlier with utilizing the global resources and scale effects on the costs.
Even as of today, our HDT trucks are leading the Japanese market with bland new technologies, and well-accepted by the customers. We can see the potential to keep the market leader in the autonomous driving area, which is strongly demanded by the customers in upcoming days.
What you will do:
- Product project management: Our team brings forward all the HDT product projects. At the project kick-off, the transparent plan need to be recommended, and the targets are clearly identified. Afterwards, proceed the projects together with the line functions to secure the targets such as budget, timeline.
- Regular weekly/monthly report: Our team report the HDT project status regularly, and you will prepare the report with the managers.
- Regular project meeting: We have weekly project team meeting and you will
create the minutes and support the meeting facilitation.
- Module team management: You will lead the several module teams as a
representative from our team. You report the activities to your supervisor every week and to the project every 6 weeks together with module team leaders.
Cross functional teams are necessary to accomplish the project tasks. The line functions in FUSO are structures their organization with the module level most of the case, not the product level, so that in order to invite the specialist in the line functions, 7 module team level cross functional teams are necessary.
- You will work together with a lot of members from almost all line functions. You will be a well-known employee in the short time.
What you should bring to the table
- University graduates or equivalent level in engineering field.
- Basic knowledge of commercial vehicle or minimum passenger car.
- Project management skills are preferred.
- Office IT skill such as Microsoft office.
- Fluent Japanese level preferred and English communication would be mandatory. If English skill is at the appropriate level, the acceptance of lower levels of Japanese skill will be taken into consideration.
- Interest in future technology such as autonomous driving, and have a motivation to challenge the new features.
What you need to succeed:
- Basic skills in the commercial vehicle field.
- Motivation to work with a lot of/various members.
- U nderstand the pr oducts as earlier as possible.
- Learn the project management rules/tools in our company. (you can get the training)
- Spirits to tackle the new features with un-known challenges.
- Improve the commination skills both with Japanese members and English speaking members.
- Carefully hear the inputs from the members and understand quickly.
