Responsibilities

Assist to prepare the samples for material and casting analysis as the requirements / standards.

• Assist material engineer to handle engineering sample materials per specifications and failure analysis of engineering and vehicle test components.

• Assist the material engineer to handle corrosion tester per Dana specification or test standard.

• Write PRs to follow met lab consumables and arrange outside source as necessary.

• Support to complete interpret results, write reports and effectively communicate with other engineers.

• Keep laboratory equipment serviced and calibrated as required.

• Other duties as assigned by material engineer.

  
  

  Qualifications

  Junior student in Metallurgical or Materials Engineering or may consider 1-3 years equivalent education and metallurgical/materials experience.

• Prefer one or more years manufacturing or engineering experience involving the use of steel, iron, induction hardening, and carburizing, but will consider new graduates.

• Knowledge of non-ferrous metals, plastics, elastomers, adhesives, welding, paints, and lubricants is preferred.

• Must have knowledge of hardness, tension-compression, fatigue, and corrosion testing plus chemical analysis and microscopic evaluation techniques and write reports.

• Demonstrated computer proficiency in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office and other computer software applications.

• Must be capable of willing to perform hand works and learn.

• Must be self-motivated and willing to accept responsibility.

• Able to lift up to 35 lbs. And stand for approximately 50 % of the time.
