Job Description

Albemarle is currently seeking an Engineer in Pasadena, TX.   The TICA Engineer (Technology Implementation for Competitive Advantage) serves as the site leader and subject matter expert for manufacturing data analytics and digital transformation.  They play a lead role in the discovery, implementation, and utilization of tools and technology such as a plant data historian and Northwest Analytics to analyze chemical production processes to lower costs, increase process efficiencies, increase production capacity, and improve reliability.  They establish best practice standards for process optimization, conduct training, and assist personnel with utilizing software and technology.  The TICA Engineer may champion and support initiatives for improving operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead site wide efforts for digital transformation, manufacturing data analytics, and process optimization.

• Leverage technology to help achieve plant goals including improved process safety, environmental compliance, improved quality, and production optimization.

• Leverage technology and data analytics to create value by improving raw material utilization, reducing blocked stock, improving energy utilization, and improve process efficiency.

• Utilize current technology and help develop new technology including Plant Data Historian, Northwest Analytics, Multi-Variate Analytics tools, SAP, mobile devices, improved equipment sensors, etc.

• Coach and assist area engineers with executing process optimization strategies.

• Collaborate with Albemarle’s other manufacturing sites and corporate efforts around Industry 4.0, digital transformation, and manufacturing data analytics.

• Stay informed on latest trends within Industry 4.0, digital transformation, and manufacturing data analytics.

• Assist site efforts with improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).   Utilize data analytics tools to track downtime and measure financial impact.

• Lead the site effort for developing process control and troubleshooting training for Operators.  Collaborate with Training Department, Process Supervisors, Operations Engineers, and Area Operators.

• Collaborate with corporate and plant personnel to help maintain analytics tools and software licensing.

• Report the status of implementation plans and improvements realized to site leadership.

• Support troubleshooting unit process issues as needed and support initiatives to improve operational excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5 to 10 years relevant experience.

• Requires Bachelor of Science degree or similar combination of education and experience.

• Proven record of leveraging technology and process optimization.

• Experience with chemical plant operations.

• Vision for establishing and maximizing value from process optimization.

• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and goals.

• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

• Strong planning and organization skills.

• Excellent software and computer skills.

• Ability to interact effectively will all levels and departments at the site.

• Strong influencing ability.

• Self-Driven and goal oriented.

• 5-15% travel.
