We are seeking a Turbomachinery New Equipment Proposal Engineer at either our Allentown, PA or Houston, TX location responsible for creating customer-facing proposal documents, selecting equipment, performing aerodynamic sizing, and performing both technical and mechanical reviews. Rotoflow™, an Air Product's business, offers full-service turbomachinery OEM offerings and provides a wide range of new equipment solutions and aftermarket services across the globe. Detailed Responsibilities
- Uphold the Rotoflow™ safety philosophy for both the workplace and products.
- Generate customer facing proposal documents for delivery to internal customers or sales/business development managers for external customers
- Provide technical review of application requirements for standard and non-standard equipment supply proposals
- Select equipment based on application requirements
- Perform aerodynamic sizing to meet process specification requirements
- Perform mechanical review of selected equipment offering by evaluating bearing adequacy, rotordynamics, materials of construction, and operating conditions with respect to experience ranges
- Perform initial technical risk evaluations to identify risks, step outs, mitigating actions, and fallback strategies
- Generate product cost analysis based on application requirements and base equipment selection
- Work with suppliers and customers as required
- Maintain effective relationships with all work team members, suppliers, and customers
- Interact daily with various internal and external functional areas and customers including Engineering, Design, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Process, Machinery, Project, Product Development, etc.
- Support continuous improvement activities for improving and maintaining sales estimate tools, work processes, and procedures.
- Drive cost reductions through standardization and execution efficiencies
Desired attributes, skills, and experience:
- BS or MS in Aerodynamic or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in proposal generation for turbomachinery
- Demonstrated mechanical and aerodynamic aptitude
- Experience with API 613/614/617/670 and related industry and petrochemical standards
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization, leadership and time management skills
- Effective team building and teamwork skills
- Ability to work with engineers, technicians, suppliers in shop, office, and field environments
- Ability to prioritize project commitments while executing multiple proposals and other activities.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Estimated average annual travel typically less than 5%
Differentiating Qualifications
- High speed rotating machinery experience
- 2D and 3D CAD experience
- Experience with ASME materials and the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
- Knowledge of packaged accessory systems (lubrication and seal gas)
- Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) firm experience with the ability to review detailed specifications and compile offerings including datasheets, scope summaries and deviation lists
- Experience with engineering analysis and interpretations related to turbomachinery
- Centrifugal compressor and expander aerodynamic stage design
- Java, VB, C, C#, Python or similar programming experience
- SAP and MRP system experience
