Talent & Culture Advisor (Recruitment & Onboarding)

As the Talent & Culture Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for our candidates and incoming talent, ensuring they feel Welcome and Valued. You will act as a trusted resource and advisor to both candidates, colleagues, and hiring managers, responding to inquiries and providing support through timely, professional and engaging service. You are a master multi-tasker, thrive under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment, and are able to balance multiple priorities while performing a wide range of complex and confidential administrative duties to support your team. What you will be doing:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day recruitment and onboarding activities for Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
  • Fostering and promoting positive colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect, and fun 
  • Acting as an ambassador of our brand and role model for our company values of Trust, Respect, Guest Passion, Innovation, Sustainable Performance, and Spirit of Conquest
  • Consistently offering welcoming, professional and proactive service to all internal and external guests of the Talent & Culture office
  • Acting as the first and last point of contact in the T&C office, resolving issues quickly and escalating unresolved issues to the Talent & Culture Manager and/or Director
  • Advising hiring managers on recruitment and talent acquisition best practices, ensuring all newly hired candidates are a fit to job, team and culture
  • Providing ongoing training, support and guidance to hiring managers on how to use our recruitment system, conducting interviews, etc. 
  • Conducting pre-screens, interviews, reference checks, and issuing offers of employment to new hires
  • Preparing onboarding packages and communication, coordinating Orientations and New Hire Onboarding Days
  • Inspiring and engaging new hires by facilitating our Orientation journey
  • Ensuring accuracy and completion of employee file administration and payroll changes in accordance with company policies, procedures, and legislation
  • Working directly with the Talent & Culture Coordinator to proactively process biweekly payroll changes with 100% accuracy and correcting issues as needed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overseeing new Heartist onboarding, including new hire paperwork and sign on, creating nametags and Employee IDs, etc.
  • Assistc. 
  • Maintaining locker inventory and conducting annual locker audits
  • Assisting in the coordination of colleague recognition events, social events, company perks, and acting as the T&C representative and/or Chair for Hotel Committees
  • Complying with HR standards and executing action plans to improve processes/procedures with goal of achieving 100% on corporate audits
  • Ensures Colleague Communication Boards, TVs, and Social Media platforms are updated on a regular basis and display high quality and updated communication
  • Supporting the Talent & Culture Manager and Talent & Culture Director on any other tasks and projects as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

  • Service focused personality is essential with ability to make others feel welcome and valued
  • Previous talent acquisition and onbaording experience preferred, luxury hotel experience an asset
  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Hospitality or Hotel Management, or the equivalent, an asset
  • Competency using a variety of computer software programs and applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Highly organized, disciplined, responsible, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to lead by example, believe in a strong team culture and set the scene for high performance
  • Ability to communicate thoughts, actions, ideas and opportunities clearly with strong networking skills
  • Ability to deal with complex, confidential and sensitive issues in an effective manner with compassion and discretion
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional, even in challenging situations or conversations
  • Ability to identify talent and a candidate’s potential fit to company culture
  • Ability to prioritize work in an environment with multiple interests
  • Ability to think outside the box and suggest innovative/creative solutions and ideas
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, holidays, early mornings, late nights, and extended hours to support colleague initiatives such as galas, surveys, holiday parties and giveaways, etc.

Successful candidates must already have legal authorization to work in Canada. Hotel is unable to assist external candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
