JOB DESCRIPTION: Talent & Culture Manager

You are a multi-tasker and are able to work independently, performing a wide range of complex and confidential administrative duties to support your team. You communicate well with everyone and anticipate and resolve issues with compassion and integrity. High positivity, empathy, creativity, responsibility and organization are some of the talents and skills necessary for this position. 

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Assists with oversees the day-to-day administration of the Talent & Culture office,
  • Fosters and promotes positive Colleague relations through an environment that encourages open communication, trust, mutual respect and fun
  • Assists the Assistant Director, Talent & Culture for the selection of new leaders and colleagues
  • Manages all employee files and ensures files are organized and properly filed in a timely manner
  • Greet applicants and employees in a warm, responsive and professional manner
  • Answer applicant/employee inquiries whenever possible or take responsibility to seek answer within 24 hours
  • Effectively coordinate the on-boarding of new employees including new hire paperwork
  • Accurately and efficiently complete, review and distribute PAF’s for payroll processing
  • Administer FMLA, Leave of Absence, and Workers' Compensation processes
  • Track employee vacation/personal days
  • Responsible for benefits inquiries, eligibility tracking and overall administration
  • Assist with Chairing and Co-facilitating the hotel Heartist Recognition program
  • Assist the Assistant Director, Talent & Culture Manage the compilation and analysis of various corporate reports and property reports
  • Answer and direct incoming calls
  • Assists with coaching and counseling Department Heads and Leaders to formulate effective recruitment and succession strategies and provides strategic direction to contribute to the hotel’s brand promise of “selecting the best”
  • Assists in directing the internal posting process, ensuring all candidates are interviewed and followed up with
  • Assists in facilitating training programs including New Colleague Orientation
  • Assists with planning and executing Colleague events, including the Annual Summer & Holiday parties and Anniversary Awards
  • Assist with the hotel VITALITY Committee program
  • Participates and supports our SOS Children’s Villages Community Outreach Program
  • Ensures that Swissôtel Chicago is compliant with all HR standards found in AccorHotel’s Talent & Culture audit
  • Advises and assists with the interpretation and consistent application of HR policies and procedures, applicable legislation and local labor laws.
  • Assists in counseling and coaching on job related issues, career development, performance management and conflict resolution
  • Assists in conducting and handling Colleague concerns, disciplinary actions and exit interviews, up to and including terminations in the absence of the Director, Talent & Culture
  • Ensures Colleague Communication Boards are updated on a regular basis and display high quality communication materials
  • Is a role model within the hotel and exhibits and practices professional leadership skills that are fully aligned and in support of our Swissôtel Chicago culture
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned

your experience and skills include:

  • Must be professional, self-motivated, flexible, friendly and approachable
  • Minimum of one year experience in a Talent & Culture/HR or Leadership role
  • Human Resources Management leadership experience an asset
  • University/College degree or diploma or a formal education in Human Resources Management an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, complimented by maturity, strong leadership skills and business acumen
  • Ability to gauge talent and a candidate’s potential fit within in the company culture
  • Proven ability to deal with sensitive issues with compassion and discretion
  • Self-confident, creative and proactive, able to prioritize and make effective decisions
  • Disciplined and highly organized
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Powerpoint
  • Highly motivated, organized, goal and results oriented individual who thrives under pressure
