Talent Manager - Supply Chain

Job Description:

Managing the overall service of linguists for assigned languages through analysis of data, feedback and business reviews with freelancers. Identifying and attracting talent to ensure stability and growth in line with SDL’s current project requirements. Advising PMOs on external teams to use for projects and building up strong teams for key accounts. Monitoring cost and ensuring balanced usage of linguists. Representing SDL’s brand and increasing SDL’s presence in the market through networking and relationship building.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Quality, capacity, and utilization management
  • Ensuring adequate capacity is in place for assigned language set
  • Monitoring external talent utilization and ensuring balanced usage
  • Informing PMOs of new freelancers added, and promoting and monitoring their active integration in live projects
  • Consulting with PMOs on strategy for outsourcing on all accounts
  • Overseeing successful onboarding of linguists onto accounts
  • Tracking and evaluating the quality of external linguists for all assigned languages, incl. organization of quality evaluations
  • Tracking the overall service of delivery of external linguists including responsiveness and reliability
  • Identifying potential risk areas and creating action plans to mitigate the risks
  • Designing and executing quality improvement action plans
  • Holding regular business reviews with linguists to go through quality feedback

 

  • Global recruitment of talent for a variety of tasks and subject matters
  • Designing recruitment campaigns and using multiple channels to ensure success
  • Advertising for applicants and actively contacting potential freelancers to encourage application to SDL
  • Coordinating recruitment activities and application processes for new translation vendors
  • Processing applications, organizing tests and evaluations, and entering details of successful candidates on the Vendor Database
  • Compiling ongoing statistics to measure the effectiveness of recruitment sources and methodology
  • Tracking multiple leads and applications accurately and efficiently to enable quick retrieval
  • Negotiating rates with new freelancers to ensure they are in line with SDLs spend strategies
  • Promoting the use of SDL Studio to potential freelancers
  • Ensuring new freelancers have a clear understanding of SDL’s expectations and procedures

 

  • Integration and maintenance of talent
  • Maintaining integrity of all data on the Vendor Database for various resources, language combinations and subject matter areas
  • Instructing and training users to use the Vendor Database in the most effective way
  • Acting as the main point of contact for non-project communication with freelancers, e.g. business reviews and quality discussions

 

  • Cost management
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on external vendor spend providing commentary on movements in the External Cost per Word along with corrective actions to address any areas for concern
  • Carrying out rate negotiation
  • Analyzing expenditure data to validate and strengthen the effectiveness of our cost control strategy
  • Share ideas for improvement and looking to continuously drive down costs whilst maintaining high-quality standards
  • Proposing correction actions to the wider group for consideration and ensuring that balancing cost control and quality is a constant focus of your daily activities. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with an excellent telephone manner
  • Experience in the translation industry
  • Experience of mentoring and giving feedback
  • Ability to prioritize and to work to tight deadlines
  • Proactive and flexible approach
  • Reliable and systematic
  • Experience in recruitment
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • PC literate with good experience of MS Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of Internet searching and social media
  • Skilled networker and relationship-builder
  • Proficiency in English
  • Good knowledge of CAT tools
