Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for monthly transaction tax compliance responsibilities for the U.S., Puerto Rico, and/or Canada. This position assists with sales/use/B&O compliance, business license compliance, preparing journal entries, assisting with customer exemption certificate management, assisting with transaction tax audits, reconciling tax related accounts for month end closing procedures, performing the monthly use tax review, maintaining excellent internal/external customer service, assisting with tax software maintenance, and other ad hoc continuous improvement projects as assigned.

Job Description

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Monthly transaction tax compliance data preparation and review of 3rd party return preparers
  • Maintaining business licenses
  • Maintaining customer exemption certificates
  • Researching tax laws for accurate compliance and monthly reporting
  • Maintaining tax automation software to ensure compliance accuracy
  • Transaction tax audit defense
  • Property Tax support
  • Reviewing purchasing data and preparing journal entries for maintaining compliance accuracy
  • Preparing and supporting transaction tax refund claims
  • Assisting with various projects as assigned

    Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with sales/use tax compliance at a global company and/or complex multi-entity reporting responsibilities.
  • 2+ years of experience preparing returns working with complex datasets including SAP, Sabrix, and/or Vertex data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking/analytical skills to solve complex tax issues.
  • Experience researching tax laws and regulations using tax research engines.
  • Experience with reconciling G/L accounts
  • Demonstrated experience using ERP system

  • Ability to use and/or create macros/automation to improve processes
  • Experience working directly with auditors
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively negotiate tax positions
  • Knowledge of GAAP and SOX controls is preferred
  • Manufacturing (medical device/supply/technology) industry experience preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel is a requirement. Proficient with Microsoft Access is preferred
  • Experience with Process Improvement is preferred

Master’s Degree in Accounting / CPA / MBA is preferred
