Job Description
The increasing popularity among the local and international tourists is also due to its status of the transportation hub in Northeast Asia. From Dalian, it takes 50 minutes to fly to Beijing, 1.5 hours to Shanghai, 2.5 hours to Hong Kong, 1 hour to Seoul, Korea and 2 hours to Fukuoka or Tokyo in Japan. The maritime transportion also enjoys a lot of convenience. There are ferry boats to Qingdao and Shanghai in China, Pushan in South Korea, and Cruise ships to Southeast Asia, Europe and even North America. The bullet train makes the weekend trips possible between Dalian and the cities in even further Northern China, such as, Shenyang, Changchun and Harbin.

Our campus is located in Lushun District, Dalian city. Lushun campus is 45-minutes school bus ride away from Dalian town, where most of the teachers live. The university has 6 school commuting buses taking all the teachers to Lushun campaus to work and back home after work. The buses go to Lushun from Dalian at 7:00 in the morning and 1:30 in the afternoon, and come back to Dalian after work at 12:30; 4:00 and 5:10 in the afternoon.

The apartments we offer to our recruitees are both on Dalian and Lushun campuses. However, due to the limit of accomodation in Dalian and also to reduce the trouble of everyday shuttle bus transportation, we highly recommend the applicants to take Lushun campus accomodation. The apartments on Lushun campus are well-furnished hotel-like rooms. Residents of Lushun apartments can cook, watch TV and do internet, etc. It’s more convenient to go to the teaching places comparing to commuting between Dalian and Lushun campus. Special attention will be available to those who are willing to live in Lushun campus in terms of shopping and transportation. Another advantage of living on Lushun campus is the easy access to those on-campus sports facilities and school canteens.

Currently there are more than 11 thousand boarding students specialized in more than 32 majors in 10 departments in our university. They are from all over China but Liaoning students take up the higher percentage. The students are at the age range from 16 to 24. They all speak English as they have been learning English for more than 6 years. Some even learned English for 8 years, among which 2 years are intensive program. So most of the students write well, know good English but they need to be encouraged to speak in public and exposed to a better English input. Admittedly, there could be few students not willing to speak, to learn even, but they won’t corrupt other students as in Asian countries we have very strict classroom management culture and practices.

Similar as other Chinese universities, we have two semesters every academic year – Spring Sememster, usually starting from the last week of Febuary or the first week of March to the last week of June or the first week of July; Autumn Semester from the last week of August or the first week of September to the last week of December or the first week of January. Every semester our university recruits around 10 foreign teachers. All of them will work in Foreign Affairs Office. This office believes in Multiculturalism and Professionalism in teaching and management. Therefore, English speakers from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and some European countries used to work here, and they have successfully helped our office to build up a multicultural and diversified English environment for our students.

The foreigner teachers’ supervising departments will be the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Foreign Languages. The persons in charge from both departments will take up the responsibilities of looking after the recruitees’ living and working in China. Should anyone experience any difficulties in the performance of duties, please feel free to let the supervisors know immediately. It is our goal that all employees will work in a safe and injury-free environment.

For this coming Autumn Semsester, we plan to recurit 6 full time English teachers or intern student teachers. So we also welcome university students to apply for the internships, which is exactly the same as full time positions, except that each intern student teacher will be assigned a mentor to work with and the maximum contract will be 6 months. In alignment with the stipuliations from Chinese government, we expect all the applicants to fulfill the following requirements:

 16 teaching hours (45 minutes an teaching hour ) within a week or
 20 teaching hours (45 minutes an teaching hour ) within a week.
 Attend students activities (English Corner) or participate some professional development program every week.
 Teach students speaking, reading, writing or some other courses in English according to our university’s curriculum.
 Effectively teach and manage the target students, who are 16 to 24 years of age with 4 to 6 years of English learning.
 Write the syllabus for the course to teach and submit it to the Department of Foreign Affairs for final approval.
 Write test papers for the courses to teach.
 Assess students by the end of every semester.
 Provide good quality of teaching and accept mid-term evaluation from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Foreign Languages.
 Help our university to evaluate Chinese English teachers, if needed.
 Abide by all the working disciplines LUIBE has stipulated.
 Accept training from the Department of Foreign Affairs in order to improve the teaching, if necessary.
 Participate office or university activities or students campus events, if necessary.
 Accept the rearrangement of schedule due to some urgent incident or for longer public holidays.

We would like to offer the following accommodation (Lushun campus):

- 1 bedroom apartment with one sitting room, one kitchen, one bathroom and one dining room
- necessary electrical appliance (fridge, washing machine, radiator, cooking utensils, vacuum cleaner, TV, water kettle, microwave, bath heater etc.)
- free use of water, power, gas, local call (long distance call and international call are paid by users) and internet.

We offer various contract schemes in accordance with difference choices of teaching load, the backgrounds of appliants and applicants’ accomodation preference:

Contract Scheme 1:
For applicants with PhD dgrees or rich teaching experience:
- Monthly salary for teaching months (Teaching Salary): 8000~12000 RMB, in accordance with different teaching hours per week.
- Monthly salary for non-teaching months (Holiday Salary): 4000 RMB
- Total salary for six-month contact includes 4 months of Teaching Salary and two months of Holiday Salary; accordingly, the total salary for 12-month contract includes 8 months of Teaching Salary and four months of Holiday Salary.
- 1100 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 6-month contract; 2200 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 12-month contact.
- Half-way airfare reimbursement after completing 6-month contract; two-way airfare reimbursement after completing 12-month contract.
- Monthly salary will be paid around 17th every month either to employee’s local debit card or by cash in RMB.
- Holiday Allowance and Airfare Reimbursement will be paid after succesful completion of the contract without any disputes or breachment of contract.

Contract 2:
For applicant taking 20-teaching-hour load.
- Monthly salary for teaching months (Teaching Salary): 7000 RMB.
- Monthly salary for non-teaching months (Holiday Salary): 3800 RMB.
- Total salary for six-month contact includes 4 months of Teaching Salary and two months of Holiday Salary; accordingly, the total salary for 12-month contract includes 8 months of Teaching Salary and four months of Holiday Salary.
- 1100 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 6-month contract; 2200 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 12-month contact.
- Half-way airfare reimbursement after completing 6-month contract; two-way airfare reimbursement after completing 12-month contract.

Contract 3:
For applicant taking 16-teaching-hour load.
- Monthly salary for teaching months (Teaching Salary): 5900 RMB.
- Monthly salary for non-teaching months (Holiday Salary):3800 RMB.
- Total salary for six-month contact includes 4 months of Teaching Salary and two months of Holiday Salary; accordingly, the total salary for 12-month contract includes 8 months of Teaching Salary and four months of Holiday Salary.
- 1100 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 6-month contract; 2200 RMB for holiday allowance after completing 12-month contact.
- Half-way airfare reimbursement after completing 6-month contract; two-way airfare reimbursement after completing 12-month contract.
- Monthly salary will be paid around 17th every month either to employee’s local debit card or by cash in RMB.
- Holiday allowance and Airfare reimbursement will be paid after succesful completion of the contract without any disputes or breachment of contract.

No matter for what contract choice, we also provide the teachers in LUIBE with the following extra welfare treatments:

- We will pick up the new comers at the airport.
- We provide free transportation to campus on the day of arrival.
- We provide free city tour within one week after arrival.
- We provide free Chinese lessons 2 hours per week. Extra Chinese lessons will be charged.
- We will aid all the teachers to apply for relevant documents and certifications. Working as a foreign teacher in China, Residence Certificate and Foreign Expert Certificate are the must-have documents for full time teachers, but not for Intern Student Teachers. LUIBE pays for the application fee but the applicants have to be present on the day of application.
- As a token of appreciation, we provide all faculty/staff members Lunch Subsidy, which is 3 RMB per working day on campus. With this subsidy, the faculty will only pay half RMB for lunch when he/she works on campus. The Lunch Subsidy will be caculated according to the record of at the end of every month, and paid together with monthly salary payment.
- Free exchange of foreign currency.
- All foreign teachers will enjoy the same public holidays as Chinese staff/faculty. Regularly, we have one-week-Golden-Week twice a year: the 1st week of May and the 1st week of October. In addition to all the Chinese public holidays, Christians will have two days off on 25th and 26th December.
- Usually we provide very fixed schedule to faculty and students. But sometimes, we probably rearrange the school calendar in order to have more days off during the public holidays. In that case, all teachers have to make up the lessons during the weekend. Usually, the Golden Week holiday will have 9 days off after the rearrangement.
