Teaching Fellow in Fashion Design / Digital Design (Ref. 20060408)
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) engage in teaching and learning activities, and conduct lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical sessions on the related subject areas;
(b) prepare and develop materials, design teaching and assessment strategies, deliver teaching in academic settings appropriate for the objectives of learning, interact with and motivate students, and assess the performance of and give feedback to students;
(c) contribute to the development of subject curriculum and pedagogy, overall teaching and learning approaches/strategies as well as subject administration;
(d) assist in the development and management of relevant teaching facilities;
(e) participate in pedagogical research and consultancy projects; and
(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Institute or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a master’s degree, preferably with a PhD, in a relevant discipline or a relevant professional qualification;
(b) not less than three years of post-qualification tertiary teaching experience and/or industrial experience in fashion design, digital design and/or clothing technology, preferably at international level;
(c) sound knowledge of university teaching experience in areas such as sustainable fashion design, fashion history, menswear design, occasion wear design, accessories design, pattern cutting or garment construction, and strong technical skills of computer design software;
(d) an established track record of fashion research outputs in traditional publication or non-traditional formats such as exhibitions, fashion shows, with postgraduate supervisions being an advantage; and
(e) good communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.
Applicants are expected to submit their fashion design e-portfolios including ten samples of their artwork, each with a brief description, together with the completed application.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Appointment will only be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
