Main objectives of the position
?Lead IPO team and implement global category strategies for APAC region
?Improve procurement productivity and performance by introducing savings initiatives
?Manage supplier base in APAC region
?Support product development and prepare decision on business award for new suppliers
Tasks and responsibilities
?Implement category strategies for global categories (in alignment with local Procurement teams in the PBU’s and the Group Category Managers)
- Participate and release global benchmark projects in APAC region
- Perform supplier market research in APAC region for new suppliers, purchasing regions and new technologies/innovations and propose outside-in suggestions for new technologies/products
- Decide on KPIs to manage and improve the suppliers in APAC
- Create policies/handbooks/guidance for APAC Procurement, e.g. approved vendor list
?Ensure implementation of category strategies
- Develop, prepare and finalize (frame) contracts for global categories with suppliers in line with purchasing standards
- Negotiate costs, terms & conditions for global categories under consideration of total cost of ownership TCO
- Monitor/review adherence to approved vendors and contracts
?Introduce and follow-up ideas and initiatives in order to generate savings and improve procurement productivity and performance
?Manage and develop supplier base within APAC (incl. claims handling for major claims, potentially with involvement of Head of Group Procurement)
- Manage strategic supplier development/review for global suppliers in APAC
- Select suppliers and manage preferred supplier panel
- Conduct regular audits at suppliers, regularly evaluate the supplier performance and perform supplier risk management
?Support product development and decide on business award in case of business with new suppliers
- Initiate and manage the product/parts standardization process
- Recommend sourcing for products/services in development
?Support all major orders with high value (e.g. negotiation or contracting support within relevant global categories)
?Provide input to budget process, e.g. price forecasting
?Key interactions with other stakeholders
- Head of Group Procurement: Work out and decide on overarching procurement strategy
- PBU Proc. Managers: Support on development of local sub-category strategies and on strategic questions
- Proc. ‘Points of Contact’: Provide guidelines/ regular up-dates to ensure they can cascade to local organization
- Procurement Analyst: Conduct supplier performance reviews; Assess relevant strategic/operational KPIs; Review and improve existing procurement processes
- Buyers: Roll-out new suppliers and integrate into production process; Escalation person in case of operational problems with supplier
- Key stakeholder outside of procurement: R&D: Provide input in early development stages and during LCM; Quality: Qualify new suppliers/validate production and product related changes; Legal: Consultations regarding contracts/claims
Competencies/decision-making power
?Decides on sourcing decision (which supplier/exact material) during new product development (or sourcing decision due to change of specifications)
?Decides on change of product specs or product portfolio (e.g., based on cost-down proposal from supplier)
?Decides on order placement (for materials without released article number/pricelist/vendor list, e.g. general expenditure, spot need)
?Decides on supplier performance review/suggested actions
Professional qualifications / Personality (main points)
?Professional qualification
?Minimum of 5-10 years professional experience as strategic purchaser or similar role with a strong focus on category strategies, strategic supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation
?Capable to manage a team and act as a role model
?Proven track record in procurement savings delivery and supplier relationship management
- Deep understanding of developing and implementing category strategies on a global level and supporting development of local sub-strategies
- Strong technical background in mechanics or electronics
Quality oriented person with experience in Quality management in general

- Proficient in English (C2) (any other languages is an advantage)
- Willingness to travel up to 60% mostly local within APAC and sometimes to European HQ
- Professional experiences outside China in international environment
