General Description
The position shall be responsible for the overall operation of Student Counselling Center (SCC), including consultation services, student extra-curriculum club/workshop training & lecture/Development Advisor System.The general responsibilities of SCC lie in that to offer professional mental services for students to ensure five-star educational model.
Main Responsibility and Accountability
Student Affairs Office envisions a dynamic, diverse, inclusive and harmonious campus environment where student-centered high quality programs and services are provided to meet students’ diverse and complex needs out of classroom while complementing their academic goals. As a subdivision of the office, the Student Counselling Center plays an important role in providing satisfying and professional services and programs for our students. The responsibilities of this position shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:
- To develop the strategic plan of the center development
- To develop relevant policies, standards, and mechanisms and procedures
- To establish good cooperation with people, offices and agencies within and outside of the university
- To promote SCC within XJTLU and raise the awareness of mental health of students.
- To develop an excellent team according to MBAR2, TIPSH2 and DRIFT
- To monitor, supervise, evaluate and improve the operation of the center
- To create and implement supportive training programs to support welfare advisors and other colleagues in SAO.
- To manage, lead and mentor a staff team
- To provide professional counseling service for students
- To provide professional support and guidance for special cases from Development Advisors
- To provide professional support for students with disabilities
- To complete other duties as assigned
Position Qualification Requirement
Skills and Knowledge
- Solid managerial and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong expertise in mental health counseling and support
- Excellent English and good cross cultural capabilities
- Highly proficient IT skills
- Able to handle confidential information in a professional manner
- Energetic, service-oriented, able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work on weekends or after working time where necessary
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines
- Committed to providing high quality service to a diverse group of students
Qualifications and Experience
- University graduate in arts related field (Master’s degree preferable)
- Solid experience to manage, lead and mentor a team
- About 3-year experience in office administration with supervisory responsibilities
- Working experience in university preferred.
