Job Description
Position Overview The position is for a Technical Sales Consultant within Siemens Measurement Intelligence (MI) team reporting directly to the MI Technical Sales Consultant Manager. Measurement Intelligence includes Continuous Gas Analyzers and Process Instrumentation. This role is responsible for supporting the Sales Channel Partners (CP) from a technical and application perspective to increase the sales of those products. The Technical Consultant provides pre-sales technical advice of core gas analytics product technologies such as extractive continuous gas analyzers and in-situ process gas analyzers, while assisting in the development and implementation of customer solutions. A good understanding of the different technologies used in process analytics such as GC, NDIR, TDLS, UV, CLD and paramagnetic is necessary. The successful candidate will have a firm understanding of the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Mining and Cement Process Industries along with a working knowledge of the processes, applications and solutions required by the prospective customers. Responsibilities The MI Technical Sales Consultant is primarily responsible to support the MI Sales Channel based on the Go-to-Market sales strategy, including the contracted MI Channel Partners in the United States. The individual is responsible for the consultation, preparation, and presentation of proposed technical solutions, including product demonstrations and application assistance. The position includes resolving complex technical problems to meet the customers’ needs. Primary pre-sales point of technical contact for solutions to MI Channel Partners (CP’s), end users, and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies Hands-on product presentations and demonstrations at end-user, EPC and CP locations Coordinate and deliver CP and end-user training events Support key CGA project activities collaborating with both CP’s and other Siemens Business Segments Provide support in disseminating complex technical information on specific applications. Coordinate activities with Primary Sales Representatives, Proposals, Business Development Team, and Product Marketing Managers Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred major in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or Instrumentation), or Trade School Certificate in Instrumentation or Gas Analytics 1 plus years (1 to 5 preferred) of successful experience in gas analytics, or process instrumentation Working knowledge of the Process Industries (Oil & Gas, Chemical, Mining and Cement) Ability to understand complex applications, and customer needs to recommend best solutions. Familiar with sample conditioning systems Excellent presentation skills at all levels of a customer organization A Self-starter with a strong desire for personal technical development Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Domestic US National position with up to 40% travel Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Preferred BS degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering. or smart instrumentation Solid understanding of the most common physics and chemistry of gas analytics Working knowledge of fieldbus structures such as: ProfiNet, HART, Profibus, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, or Industrial Ethernet Understanding of Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) and smart instrument systems and solutions Siemens Gas Analyzer knowledge a plus Industrial Process Instrumentation knowledge would be an advantage #LI-JK1 #DI Organization: Digital Industries Company: Siemens Industry, Inc.
