Technical Content Developer

Work Location: Exton, PA

Works with the Simcenter Femap team to apply technical communications or instructional design specialization to develop information solutions to assist global customers and support their learning needs. Solves challenging problems related to user-assistance and training. Contributes to and uses audience and task analyses. Applies cross-functional skills to develop information for a wide range of customer deliverables. Manages projects. Performs responsibilities with general direction from manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Create user-focused content, including online assistance, printed manuals, tutorials, self-paced training courses, instructor-led training materials, projects, workshops, graphics, and multimedia.
  • Learns the product, conducts research, defines content and scope, plans, develops, and maintains new and existing information solutions for end-users, installers, administrators, and implementers of products.
  • Uses audience and task analyses to plan and create user-assistance and/or training that is meaningful to the customer work experience. Assists with conducting task analyses.
  • Becomes increasingly competent in many aspects of information development including product knowledge and application, research, user studies, information or instructional design, information mapping, media selection, graphics and multimedia development, content authoring, content reuse, testing and implementation.
  • Creates, plans, and develops user-assistance and/or training-specific information.
  • Manages own projects.
  • Executes process methodology, quality, and standards.
  • With guidance, interacts with customers to learn their needs.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Skilled in technical communication or instructional design, and/or in a product-related subject area such as finite element analysis (FEA) or mechanical design and engineering.
  • Ability to obtain product knowledge at the component, feature, and system level and learn its application in the Simcenter Femap product.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical/engineering concepts.
  • Works independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Effectively uses the tools and platforms required by the organization or is proficient enough in different tools and platforms to warrant a change by the organization.
  • Effectively communicates in one-to-one and group situations.  Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Assimilates information from various sources and use it to create quality end-user deliverables.


Education and Experience Requirement:

·       A Bachelor’s degree (or international graduate of a university level program) in a related field or in a technical field. Some level of related experience in technical communication, instructional design, engineering, computer science, or related field is advantageous.
