Position Overview

• Internationally experienced at Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Management.

• The incumbent will drive up our businesses technical capabilities of Volex’s Tool manufacturing & maintenance department, Production Engineering & NPI Engineering functions.

• You will be able to own and make successful lean projects such as ‘increased automation’.

• You will be an excellent change manager who can generate accurate budgets and also restructure your departments clearly demonstrating your resource optimization proposals, the logic and reasoning behind those proposals.

• You will need to be very smart at identifying cost effective equipment [machines, jigs & fixtures] that improve optimization with tangible R.O.I.’s.

• Directly reporting to and supporting a British GM who is VA & CI focused.

Main Responsibilities:

• Your reports include: NPI Engineering, Production & Concurrent Engineering, Tooling manufacturing & Tooling maintenance.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in the factory, design experiments and put investment in equipment proposals together that are cost and / or quality improvements with clear R.O.I.’s.
• Project Manage – Ramp up & run at rate [R@R] process optimization including:
• ptimization = UPH increases, cycle time reduction, rework elimination, scrap yield improvements]
• Own, Manage & Record: * = Direct responsibilities ^ = Managed responsibilities
• Devising key staff engineering skills, training criteria & develop your teams.
• Teaching key manufacturing processes for operator training.
• Designing, building, specifying for procurement Poke Yoke jigs & fixtures.
• Pre pare budgets and R.O.I.’s for machinery and equipment investments.
• Ownership of evaluation data for before and after equipment investment.

• Work closely with Customer support & GM to ensure all Volex’s NRE Engineering and equipment investments are identified and loaded into [SFDC] Sales Force Dot Com.
• Ensure the smooth transformation from NPI through to LEAN volume manufacturing and manage programs that drive automation and cost reduce manufacturing.
• Be a key contributor in the Kaizen LSS improvement teams with a core focus on yield improvements and scrap reduction.
• Grow your teams to high level of International management and engineering expertise.

Skills and Attributes

• Bachelor degree holder in Manufacturing / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
• Experiential & familial knowledge of Mould Tool manufacturing, moulding processes, Automotive PPAP preparations, Semi & Full automation in a high value manufacturing environment.
• Have an excellent command of written and verbal Technical English.
• Excellent problem solving skills, analytical skills and presentation of data to international fortune 500 customers.
• Ability to multi-task with an ability to work under pressure to tight schedules.
