Eaton’s Utility sector is seeking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic embedded systems Technical Product Owner (TPO) to lead the development of our next generation of SMP platforms. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the TPO is responsible for the whole product lifecycle. The TPO works with product marketing and development teams to ensure that business, quality and functional goals are met with each product release. The TPO is responsible for the design, usability, quality and delivery of products and features. The TPO is the key decision maker on priorities and design decisions, and works to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the development lifecycle. The TPO understands both the engineering and business side of the product release and is ultimately responsible for representing the end user’s needs. Essential Responsibilities: Take lead of global distributed agile teams as the Technical Product Owner, keeping abreast with agile best practices. Define the vision for the Linux-based SMP firmware platform in collaboration with, and with input from, the platform's adopters and stakeholders (including Offer Management, other products using the same firmware, the SMP Gateway products, etc.). Maintain the product roadmaps for existing and upcoming Linux-based SMP products in collaboration with Offer Management and Engineering leadership, and with input from the products' stakeholders. Work closely with marketing product managers and technical leads/architect owners to create and maintain product backlogs prioritized according to business value. Develop appropriately detailed specifications for product features so that they are clearly understood by the development teams. Inspire and motivate the development teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions with an appropriate sense of urgency. Communicate with stakeholders across the board including product leaders for other products, customers, business managers, and the development teams to communicate the vision and inform the roadmap. Ensure quality assurance processes are followed including liaising between R&D and V&V, documenting requirements, approving test plans, and approving work items making sure they meet quality requirements. Ensure that the teams always have an adequate amount of prior prepared tasks to work on. Provide backlog management and iteration planning. Lead the planning product release plans and set expectation for delivery of new functionalities. Provide an active role in mitigating impediments impacting successful teams completion of release/sprint goals. Assist the PMO in project management for products that involve the teams and/or the products. Train stakeholders on new product features. Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience in delivering software projects, acting as a product owner or project manager. Exceptional ability to lead, collaborate, openly communicate, influence others, present and negotiate effectively across disciplines and stakeholders (marketing, engineering, customer support, etc.). Experience in writing clear and concise user stories, functional and non-functional requirements. Demonstrated experience delivering results in an ambiguous and changing environment, with the ability to work independently and be a self-starter, working multi-task on several initiatives at one time, in a fast moving and evolving business. Sound judgment and decision-making skills, ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, delegate within team, and ability to work under deadline pressures. Bilingual (French and English), oral and written. Preferred Qualifications: Solid understanding of embedded systems development, including firmware and softward Knowledge of secure development practices. Knowledge of advanced networking concepts. Knowledge of communication protocols fundamentals. Knowledge of the Electrical Domain (Smart Grid, SCADA systems, Substation Automation, etc.). Teamwork, communication, strong interpersonal skills across cultural and organizational boundaries. Experience working with global teams. Experience with Agile Development Processes, and working in an agile team environment, using SCRUM or any other framework.
