About The Role:

You will lead the technical team supporting the RWS journey to become a digital-first organization where our customers can interact to consume the services provided by various business units. The digital experiences should be consistent across the group and built using consistent technologies and a composable architecture with a secure-first development approach. You will ensure maximum reusability of components across the digital portals by building a core digital platform.

Whilst this is not primarily a hands-on role, you will have come from either a technical software development or architectural background as you will be leading a team of technical professionals from different disciplines, including; architecture, software development, quality assurance, user experience and DevOps. You will initially be involved with building a team for success. Given the global nature of the RWS delivery model, you will be comfortable leading teams spread across different geographic locations and time zones. Both you and the team should have a mindset focused on agility, innovation and being customer centric.

This role will involve delivering in an environment of competing priorities across the digital portals owned and managed by different business units so your ability to allocate resources ensuring the best utilization of the right resource at the right time will be crucial.

A strong understanding of digital development principles is key to the success of this role and you will be a key member in shaping and maturing the digital experience. Innovation will be a key requirement to the RWS digital journey. You will be product-minded, delivery focused, yet comfortable with failure, adopting the Agile principle of fail-fast and learn from it. You will be focused on building a team that is responsive, quality driven and built for success.

Key Responsibilities:

 

· Recruiting and retaining a team of technical professionals across the full spectrum of software engineering capabilities.

· People management of the team.

· Ensuring projects are resourced correctly.

· Ensure best practices in Software Development are maintained

· Ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability of code and software architecture.

· Monitor team performance, set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide feedback.

· Be a subject matter expert (SME) for digital adoption throughout RWS

· Work with the architecture function to ensure a reusable and composable architecture is adopted.

· Work with the UX function to ensure a consistent and highly compelling set of user journeys are developed and maintained.

· Work with product managers and other business stakeholders to help shape roadmaps and help prioritize the backlogs.

· In conjunction with the QA and development functions, defining and improving software quality across software delivery teams and delivering efficiency and improving software development.

Skills and Experience:

· 5 years' experience working in a technical role in digital development

· 3 years' experience of managing technical software development teams

· Hands-on experience in either REACT, Node.JS, Java or related technologies

· Good understanding of Agile principles with either practical experience of SCRUM or Kanban,

· Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

· As this is a global role you will have both excellent written and spoken English and will be able to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders where English is not a first language.

· Understanding of AWS architecture would be advantageous.

· Understanding of PCI compliance would be advantageous.
