Job Description

Technical Sales Specialist (Single Use Technologies) – Southeast US

The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) will work with our customers, market communities and sales teams to position Thermo Fisher’s Single Use Technologies (SUT) capabilities within the Biopharma/Biotech sector, maximizing the sales of single use hardware, automation, and consumables for our business within the Southeast US.

You will be working closely with current and prospective customers to forge connections and build relationships. You will then use your specialist SUT knowledge to identify their specific SUT requirements and develop a tailored solution for their needs.

You will develop and lead the sales strategy for our SUT business within this region, developing in-depth knowledge of the market, our customers and our competitors and utilizing this to open up sales opportunities and drive business growth.

What will you do?

  • Articulate the strategy for SUT product sales in collaboration with the BPD commercial team
  • Achieve a revenue sales target within the assigned region
  • Provide strategic support regarding SUT: competitive intelligence; win/loss analysis; strategic analysis; sales technique coaching; drive new product introduction or other important messaging activities, generally in close collaboration with Market Development, Product Management, Field Applications and other TSS colleagues.
  • Drive mind-share into the market for our single-use brand and value proposition
  • Influence the commercial team and other resources to prioritize driving SUT business growth, including some sales channel support
  • Facilitate geographical connections, leverage best practices between covered territories, coordinate SUT approach between global sites of key accounts, generally in close collaboration with Global Core Account Management
  • Own the area’s SUT financial objectives
  • Provides input and support in a variety of SUT sales situations with a very high degree of teamwork. This includes collaborating with product management, Field Applications (FAS) and Field Service (FSE) on complex sales opportunities.

Who we are looking for: experience, skills & abilities

  • 5 years minimum experience in Sales and/or Strategic Account Management serving the Biopharmaceutical Industry; experience in bioprocess or bioproduction strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry or equivalent
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the entire single use technology product portfolio, including hardware & automation, flexible containment, and rigid containment
  • Outstanding team working skills to add value in a highly matrixed organization
  • In-depth knowledge of the Biopharmaceutical market
  • Technical background in single-use technologies preferred
  • Well organized individual with ability to establish short and long-term business objectives and have a demonstrable record of measuring performance toward those objectives
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and should demonstrate track record of opening doors and developing new business
  • Willingness to travel
