Overview

The principle purpose of this position is to support the sales of Kemin Industries products. This support comes in several major areas. When new products are released from R&D, or near the launch phase, the incumbent is responsible for trials to validate the product’s efficacy. These trials will be completed at Major Universities, Contract Research Centers or in potential customer’s facilities. The incumbent is responsible for experimental design, research contract negotiations, intellectual property protection, assuring the experiment is conducted according to the experimental design and completing the process with a report suitable for publication in peer review journals, trade publications or customer product literature. The Incumbent may be required to travel with Sales or business development employees to present technical aspects of the features and benefits of all products.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with the potential customer by monitoring test progress and summarizing data to prove product effectiveness.
  • Participate in the product launch process and support successful product launches.
  • Assist Marketing department in the preparation of sales support literature by providing all technical input in to the market communication aspects.
  • Develop experimental protocols to demonstrate effectiveness of all products in potential customers operations.
  • Broad decision making authority regarding the technical support necessary to achieve budget and strategic goals.
  • Ensure all business practices in his/her area of responsibility are completed within applicable law and according to Kemin Industries Code of Ethics.
  • Involved in Policy and Procedure development and when evaluating new policies to work with other affected Technical Service employees and other department managers to ensure consistent practices throughout the organization.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with other departments such as, but not limited to Customer Service, CLS Department, Marketing, Technical Service, R&D, and Researchers or Professors.
  • Represent Kemin Industries by active participation in Industry Associations for respective species.
  • Development of budgets and the allocation of all resources to ensure attainment of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION (including licenses, certifications, designations, etc.):
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 or more years of experience, Master’s Degree with 5 or more years of experience, or Ph.D.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Effective communication including to support the resolution of customer complaints.
  • Ability to communicate the need to balance quality issues with production schedule needs to operations personnel.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and effective managerial capability of several projects.
