Position Summary: Siemens EDA is hiring a Technical Training Manager for our Electronics System Design and Manufacturing product suite. The Technical Training Manager will report to the Director of Learning Services and will support the growth of our Learning Services business in the on-demand & instructor led modalities, certification, and custom delivery. The responsibilities include managing a highly technical team of instructors, and strategic planning for the development and execution of Electronics System Design and Manufacturing customer education products to achieve business targets for Learning Services. This role provides an opportunity for close collaboration with the division management, the EDA education management, as well as the team of developers, instructors, and editors, in developing customer training curriculum and certification programs, and packaging/pricing services into offerings that meet the needs of our customers. You will work with customers, sales, product division and support groups to determine roadmaps and enhancements to existing classes, and to identify new classes for development. Based on this guidance, you will work your technical training team and other training resources to plan and create materials that will be presented to customer worldwide. The primary objective of this position will be to manage development and delivery of high-quality training that will increase customer knowledge and drive training revenue and product adoption at customer sites. Essential Duties: Training Development: Manage a multiple course developer environment to design and plan development on entire Library level. Oversees multiple ( > 3) courses development roadmaps, schedules, resources Capture and define best practices from solution knowledge gathered from project teams Anticipate learning needs for highly complex, Enterprise solutions, based on role assessments, producing Use Cases and Scenarios to support learning development Guide development of processes based on use cases and scenarios; steer the development of style guides to ensure consistency and quality Support multiple learning media with content re-use Plan for material updates throughout deployment Focus on creating maintainable content Training Delivery: Support staff instructors towards delivery of flexible, mixed mode classes (Face to face/Remote) Defines best practices from solutions gathered from team Plan and execute Enterprise training tailored to customer needs covering multiple products and product groups Oversee the supervision of training delivery and record training effectiveness (see comment) Foster customers’ team spirit open to change, improvement and adaptive to new solution Drive best practices across all products and regions Helps define delivery tools to maximize delivery and minimize costs Managing Cross Functional Relationships (Sales, Product Divisions, Support, Siemens Learning Services) Is viewed as peer and trusted technical advisor to Customers, Sales, Divisions and Support Effectively influences operating managers in customer sites on defining training technical proposals Participates with Sales and Product Divisions to develop account strategy; brings experience with customer to discussions and provides technical input relative to customer requirements. Is a recognized expert internally and externally in product area, curriculum development, program management Project Management Manages development projects independently for multiple product areas both within expertise area and outside expert area Learning Proposals must manage sales and customer expectations, handling issues/problems; anticipates issues arising in engagements; plans contingencies and knows when to communicate and escalate. Manages third party contractors for content development or delivery to drive business Projects involve large, distributed teams, possibly world-wide > Ability to "Team Lead" 3+ product areas > Leads a team to assess, capture, and analyze/synthesize requirements through direct interactions with customers; helps uncover requirements customer may not have recognize Problem Solving and Initiatives Demonstrates initiative at level of "division" (world-wide) Demonstrates initiative across divisions and worldwide; Technical skills and experience allow higher utilization. Able to work anywhere within region and sometimes world-wide Demonstrates initiative across multiple disciplines such as marketing, sales, finance, engineering and a sense of being part of the larger company. Business Skills Able to develop new business opportunities in a product area; develops and or inputs to learning proposals, scope, tasks, deliverables, schedule, assumptions, costing; anticipates likely failure modes in engagements and plans contingencies. Understands customer's business context and business drivers; able to sell value of Learning Services effectively; able to develop programs covering multiple engagements, defining the technical development phases. Support customer stakeholders in positioning project value in context of customers’ strategy and company goals Able to take proposal from start to finish, including pricing; able to draft development plan/curriculum plan in conjunction with Sales, identifies and develops new services opportunities (vs. customer opportunities) Understands and contributes to LS strategy to generate growth Professional Development Ø Coaches/mentors new Instructional Designers > Propagates knowledge into Learning Services, Customer Support and Division (internal/external Technotes, Blogs, Newsletters...) > Independently pursues identifying development needs and seeks opportunities to grow Education and Experience: Bachelor or Masters in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related fields. 10+ years of experience in managing teams of technical resources supporting customers (internal or external), sales or marketing. Experience using software tools and platforms used in educations i.e. LMS, eLearning authoring (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia) is a plus Experience developing and/or delivering technical training is a plus. Knowledge of adult learning theory, preferably in a technical environment, is a plus. Prior experience EDA products and specifically with Siemens EDA products a plus. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: The ability to determine suitability of training materials based on learner skill level and learning style is required. Must have strong presentation and communication skills, ideally in a technical setting. Must have demonstrated ability to work well in cross-functional team environment, and work collaboratively on a team Demonstrated ability to respond to multiple conflicting priorities, manage changing priorities and respond appropriately to unexpected changes. Must possess time management, communications, inter-personal, verbal, listening, problem solving, troubleshooting, decision-making and organizational skills.
