Job Description

SCHOOL OF CHINESE MEDICINE

Applications are invited for the following post in the Centre for Chinese Herbal Medicine Drug Development, which is located in the Hong Kong Science Park.

Technician (PR0103/20-21)

The appointee will be responsible for providing technical support for research groups; managing laboratory, including stock taking, procurement of supplies, maintaining inventory and documentation; and performing basic research work when necessary.

Job Duties:

  • To handle laboratory and administrative duties, including communal equipment service support, manage consumable supplies and data management;
  • To provide technical support in teaching and research activities;
  • To be responsible for routine maintenance of the instrument or research platform related to Analytical Chemistry studies, including preparative HPLC System, Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer with UHPLC, Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer with UHPLC, Monolith NT.115 system, etc;
  • To undertake any other duties as assigned; and
  • The appointee will be required to work outside normal office hours and on call as required.

 

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in Analytical Chemistry, Phytomedicine, Metabolomics, Biochemistry or related discipline;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a laboratory setting; and
  • A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).

 

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written assessment.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
