Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Role Purpose The position will provide leadership of AO division-wide projects related to new product introduction and product enhancements. Specifically, the candidate will manage new product introduction from concept to prototyping, manufacturing and launch, as required. The candidate will manage all cross functional interfaces to ensure activities meets target objectives and where warranted, adhere to the innovation stage gate process. Candidate will identify risks and communicate these as needed. Candidate will provide project updates and communications to business and/or technology (D, E & M) leadership teams. The candidate will have the following as routine internal contacts: R, D, E & M, commercial technology, in-region business units and programs, supply chain, and finance functions. External contacts can include suppliers, contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, partners for joint activities and customers. Key Responsibilities • Survey the technical space and look for ways to develop & adapt internal technical capabilities to requests from partners and customers • Responsible for managing several projects at any one time where interfacing directly with R&D, Marketing, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Unit stakeholders and external parties to achieve desired outcomes. • Ensure necessary reporting and cross-regional/channel leverage takes place. • Run project team meetings to drive completion of tasks, work through bottlenecks, assess risks and raise issues to management. • Ensure accuracy and completeness of innovation information throughout the Stage Gate process, and input into and support the continuous improvement of the system. • Coordinate platform and project reviews: gather, validate, analyze and present results to project teams and stakeholders. • Create, and update timelines, develop risk management, status reporting and manage cross functional interfaces to ensure timings are met for all projects. • Follow the stage gate process and ensure all gate documents are prepared and submitted for approval. • Participate in business reviews where relevant. • Support and input into full innovation portfolio reviews. • Interact with senior leadership team in providing visibility, analysis and summaries of innovation projects and processes as required Travel and Other Requirements: ~25% to include travel overseas to interface with counterparts in the US, South Korea and to manufacturing locations in China. There will also be routine domestic travel. Expect routine evening and/or early morning calls. Qualifications and Required Skills: B.S. or M.S. technical degree. Manufacturing and/or engineering experiences throughout the product life cycle (growth and/or decline, new product introduction, turnaround situation, etc.) 7+ years with progressive responsibilities in engineering roles in development or manufacturing environments Experience leading projects or organizations to deliver step change performance improvements, new product or process innovation, or expanding technical capability. Experience building and managing collaborative relationships. Good presentation skills. Supervisory experience.
