Job Description Summary

Assembles and packages Urine Culture products by operating automated equipment to place different components of acceptable quality into a pouch while minimizing waste and meeting standard throughput rates.

Job Description

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

Places trays of 300 tubes each on tube feed input conveyors.  Places trays of 300 conical tubes each on tube feed input conveyor when applicable.

Places UCK cups in bulk hopper as appropriate for the catalog number being packaged.

Inspects cups to make sure they are clean and properly assembled.

Places rolls of film on Hayssen bagger correctly so when machine is started, film will seal properly.

Fills wipe Feeder/Cutter with appropriate wipes.

Fills case erector with appropriate cases and ensures the taper has the appropriate tape.

Purges the case coder and resets to zero if new batch number is being run.

Enters program number appropriate for UCK catalog number being run on ICOR check weigher.

Ensures Little David case sealer has appropriate tape loaded.

Sets up case labeler stamp with lot number and expiration date.  Places appropriate roll of labels on case labeler for catalog being produced.

Sets up mini TULLIP’s for appropriate tube size.  Places appropriate rolls of labels on labeler.

Places appropriate product circulars in Minnesota automation Pick and Place.

Turns on air and power to all machines.

Monitors all component and packaging feeders and fills as required.

Erects, tapes, labels and stamps hand packed shipping cases.

Fills out Quality Control information and inspection sheets as required by current BD Vacutainer® Operational Specifications.

Reports production and/or waste according to current Accounting methods.

Maintains separation of lots and follows all GMP and Quality Assurance procedures.

Responsible to assure proper safety procedures are followed.

Assures that needed raw materials have been requisitioned by the warehouse personnel in time to maintain productivity goals.  Assures finished product is removed from manufacturing area properly. Assures optimum productivity and quality standards are maintained. Maintains a clean work area and reports all safety hazards to Facilitator immediately. Performs duties of a Production Assembly Operator during times of equipment downtime due to scheduling, etc. MAINTENANCE

Responsible for maintaining tools.  Initial tools and lockouts will be provided.  If lost, the employee pays for replacements.

Performs changeovers or sets up equipment for the product catalog number scheduled to run.

Makes adjustments until such time that all machines are operating at rated capacity and required quality levels.

Requisitions needed parts from Parts Crib to complete set ups or adjustments of equipment.

Informs and assists Team Leadership and Technicians of necessary repairs or maintenance needed on UCK packaging equipment.

Not authorized to complete electrical repair work unless documented formal education is provided.

Reports all safety hazards to Team Leadership and maintains all equipment and work areas within established safety standards.

Performs preventative maintenance as required per schedule.

Initiates work orders related to safety improvements needed.

Follows Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and other systems/procedures as appropriate.

Identifies problems related to equipment performance including such items as defective solenoids, cylinders, etc.  Responsible for efficiently replacing these defective components and making them operational.
