Eaton’s Residential Wiring & Devices Sector is currently seeking a Test Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Moon Township, PA office. This role is hybrid depending on your work schedule and assignments. Position Overview: The Test Engineer works under little supervision, designs and operates electronic, electrical and mechanical testing equipment on engineering prototypes and production samples. Documents test plans, records data, and provides detailed written test reports. Understands product certification requirements and their impact on product testing and performance. In this function you will: Ability to become an expert in the product certification standards and testing and how they apply to Eaton’s product portfolio Ability to develop risk mitigation strategies and remediation modifications in order to maintain a safe working environment during electrical testing Design, develop, and build automated test equipment, programs, and systems, when appropriate, to streamline and standardize re-occurring tests. Furnishes documentation so that test system can be maintained and used by others Plans and coordinates purchasing through installation of new equipment infrastructure for development test labs based on test requirements or gaps in testing capabilities Objectively evaluate test results during the testing and reporting phases and clearly communicate conclusions to the project engineer either verbally or in writing. Proactively provides recommendations, based on test results and observations, to improve product function or integrity throughout the development stage. Maintains an understanding of new technologies as appropriate for future testing programs. Researches and recommends new test equipment to improve lab functional capabilities. Provides measurement data using precision equipment and engineering drawings to validate part compliance Able to lead, direct, coordinate, and bring successful closure to distinct assignments. Uses invention, imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness during the course of assigned work. Plans and coordinates purchasing through installation of new equipment infrastructure for development test labs based on test requirements or gaps in testing capabilities Ability to use programming skills to develop automated instrument control and data acquisition programs. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Three (3) or more years of related technical experience. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Moon Township, PA will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Preferred Qualifications: Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software aptitude. Detailed skill in use of computer for test documentation and analysis. Programming experience in Python/C++. Familiarity with National Instruments LabView.
