Eaton Corporation in Ciudad Juarez MX is currently seeking a Test Engineer to support our Industrial Controls manufacturing plant. The position is a leader of people with responsibility for site testers. The Test Engineer supervises the team of electrical testers for enclosed starters and variable frequency drives, products in a safe and effective manner to meet stakeholder commitments for product/service quality and timeliness. Essential Functions: Responsible for development, and operation of test equipment in compliance with electrical safe/best work practices. Provide guidelines on safe equipment, PPE, tools and testing protocols. Promote a safe work environment while maintaining high levels of 5S+ across all test areas. Maintain test processes in compliance with applicable industry standards, Eaton MESH, EQMS standards, OSHA requirements, and NFPA 70E regulations. Develop test equipment specification ensuring compliance with to safely validate that products meets design specification. Represent the site as the SRP (Site Responsible Person) for Electrical Testing, conducting the proficiency test and certifications for testers to provide the necessary competencies to support product inspection & testing., Workstation Risk Assessments, RPN Analysis. Participate in the plant MESH Self -Assessment and Validated External Assessment. MESH Element Champion for Electrical Safety. Develop, maintain, & improve processes and procedures for product validation & testing. Including required equipment, software. Deploy and manage the TDM quality data system and interface inspection / testing as required. Manage test data collection, record keeping, reporting and analysis to support the ongoing needs of the business. Work closely with cross-functional teams including EHS, Quality, Front-end Support and Operations to ensure the continued application of quality standards to products and work processes in support of meeting customer expectations. Support customer requests for specialized testing, test reporting, and coordination of customer witness test. Directly supervise testers managing schedules and planning efforts to achieve plant production targets and customer commitments. Monitor and address employee actions or behavior to ensure adherence with required policies, procedures, systems, and rules. Plan, recommend, and justify annual goals and targets in accordance with operational needs, strategies, and objectives. Establish expectations and roles and responsibilities for Site Responsible Parties dedicated to oversight and management of Electrical Testing activities. Participate in the external/internal quality problem solving activities and annual PFMEA/ Control Plan Review in addition with other Eaton Quality Management System policies. Deploy as needed Continuous Improvement Framework building blocks, Process Standardization, Visual Controls, Process Checks, Daily Accountability, Manning Strategy, Gemba Walks to the Testing Process. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years working experience in an electrical testing department. Minimum 1 year of experience managing people and/or project teams. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. 5 years of experience managing people and/or project teams. 5 years of direct experience for enclosed starters and variable frequency drives Position Criteria: Working knowledge of electrical testing principles and equipment. Proven record of having interpreted regulations/standards & implementing appropriate Electrical Safe Work Practices such as NFPA 70E. Demonstrated ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams. Demonstrated proficiency with PC and related software (Microsoft Office and AutoCAD). Prior experience in manufacturing engineering capacity along with training and experience with Lean and Six Sigma Tools and Continuous Improvement Framework is preferred. Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues. Ability to interpret, suggest and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors and customers. Must be available for travel to customer sites for electrical fault analysis, installation fit and function, and/or repair. Certified first responder for electrical hazards. Meeting the criteria of an electrical professional as defined in NFPA 70E. Strong verbal and written communication skills, persuasive skills, and analytical problem-solving skills. Work with individuals and groups to effectively participate within team environment.
