As a Therapeutic Area Lead, directly reporting to the Oncology Medical Affairs Head, you will lead the medical-scientific strategy of the therapeutic area, contributing to the clinical development of products and managing the team, to achieve leadership objectives with a clear focus on patients.

1. RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, Team Management and People Development (30 %)

  • Build, organize and animate a medical oncology team of excellence to ensure the success of the Therapeutic Area portfolio, building and creating a culture of development and fostering an adequate motivation and working atmosphere.
  • Supervise Medical Managers and MSLs team ensuring integrated and coordinated activities.
  • Lead team performance, managing and developing tools (activity dashboards, performance reviews, coaching, feedback).
  • Support team development, focusing on the consolidation of its strengths and the strengthening of improvement areas, ensure implementation of Individual. Development Plan, develop skills and scientific leadership of the team.  
  • Support talent management.

Strategic & Operational Excellence (30 %)

  • Define, lead and implement comprehensive and innovative National and Regional Medical  Plans for the Therapeutic Area portfolio  in alignment with global plans.
  • Coordinate the Medical Plans, ensuring their impactful implementation.
  • Design and validate objectives, plans and budgets of areas under responsibility.
  • Analyse products in development or existing in the portfolio, identifying their potential future use (new indications, etc.) and the advantages for the company.
  • Define and implement the External Engagement plan.
  • Develop high added-value relationships with external experts, scientific societies and health decision makers of the therapeutic area.
  • Project the image and corporate values ​​of AstraZeneca in internal and external interactions.

Cross-functional activities  (30 %)

  • With an entrepreneurial leadership, ensure synergies within Oncology Medical Affairs (Global, Europe , …) and cross-functionality with the transverse teams: Marketing, Promotion, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Training.
  • Contribute to the implementation and execution of AstraZeneca Sponsored trials in close partnerships with Clinical Operations.
  • Propose, along with the medical team of the area, research and national centres of excellence for the implementation of AstraZeneca sponsored trials.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of Risk Plans in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory.

Compliance (10 %)

  • Guarantee that all work-related activities comply with applicable external and internal regulations (policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and code of conduct).

2. PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements

  • Education: Medicine education (Medical Doctor).
  • Clinical and scientific experience related to Oncology or Hematology (>3 years).
  • Proven cross functional experience and collaboration with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Advocacy.
  • Product-Life-Cycle-Management and successful Launch-Management.
  • Experience in cooperation with clinical research and regulatory (national and international).
  • Experience in externally sponsored research and cooperation with study groups.
  • Experience in team Management.
  • English: C1.
  • Microsoft Office: Advanced Level.
  • Overall experience of at least 7 years in the pharmaceutical industry working with ethical products, having occupied one of the following positions:
  • Similar position in a different company: 1 year.
  • MSL Manager: 2 years.
  • Medical Manager: 4 years.

Desirable requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in business or management development.
  • Therapeutic area knowledge.
  • Experience in all product lifecycle.
  • Previous experience in clinical practice.
