Job Description

Job Profile Summary:

An internally and externally facing medical role that provides medical and clinical expertise in Respiratory therapy areas and builds AstraZeneca Scientific Leadership across NEMAG Marketing Company.

Position can be based in Egypt or any of NEMAG countries

*NEMAG: Near East & Maghreb Marketing Company

Cluster of 12 Countries namely: Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Algeria, Morocco & Tunisia

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Participates and contributes with medical and clinical expertise in design of Medical Plans and Brand Strategy.
  • Takes leadership in implementation of Medical Plan/activities in alignment with Brand strategy.
  • Ensures that the Medical Activities meet the needs of patients and customers.
  • Engages Key External Experts in ESRs, scientific exchange meetings and advisory board meetings.
  • Defines and delivers training on Medical background of the product or various functions in an organization.
  • May take responsibility as Medical Governance/Nominated Signatory medical reviewer for activities and promotional materials.
  • Manage MSLs in the countries. May lead Medical Information and/or Pharmacovigilance within a particular market.
  • Establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader through proactive, updated and effective Medical input.
  • Engage scientific leaders, professional bodies or societies to establish AstraZeneca as a scientific leader
  • Generate the medical evidence to support the brand strategies in priority TAs to meet unmet medical needs
  • Provide medical expertise to shape regulatory environment to achieve rapid and high quality market access of AstraZeneca products including new registration, new product evaluation and life cycle
  • Define and deliver training on Medical background of the product for various functions in an organization as required
  • Medical Governance and ensuring overall adherence to processes and regulations
  • Develop and implement pre-launch medical plan/activities for new products at least 2 years prior to the planned launch in the country to address key clinical and scientific challenges
  • Provide local medical expertise to local area/regional brand teams
  • Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca code of Ethics, Corporate Governance, Audits requirement, guidelines, codes, policies and procedures.

Minimum Criteria, Competencies & Personal Attributes:

  • Qualified Medical Doctor
  • External Candidates: 3 - 4 years’ experience in multinational pharmaceutical companies in similar positions
  • Internal Candidates: 2 years’ experience in AZ as Medical Manager or Sr. Medical Manager with successful track records.
  • Strong Medical background in different therapy Areas.
  • English proficiency and French is an addition.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Experience in working in multi-country/cluster operations
  • Project management experience
  • Gets the job done, meets or exceeds expectations and exhibits a sense of urgency on critical time dependant issues
  • Persistent despite obstacles and opposition / Handling Complexity
  • Ability to network across geographic and cultural boundaries
  • Excellent relationship management
  • Excellent project management skills / Team working and networking ability
