The Functional Materials and Manufacturing Processes Research Group of Siemens AG in Munich is developing a technology for the additive manufacturing of magnetic sheets. On the one hand, this should enable significantly lower sheet thicknesses and a further reduction in eddy currents, which cause the main losses in electric machines, especially at high speeds.
