Position Overview Drive a key growth industry that will make a significant impact on the bottom line in this high visibility role. In this diverse business development position, you will work with end users, OEMs, distributors, and system integrators with a focus on account retention and expansion as well as on new business development for tire related companies as part of our Digital Factory/ Factory Automation division. You’ll bring your experience in engineering, sales, motion control, drives and automation, plus experience in the tire industry to deliver on annual sales targets. As a key member of the tire vertical team, you will have many opportunities to expand your skill on the sales side, managing a large market across multiple channels. This person will report to the head of the USA tire industry vertical market The role is an individual contributor role and does not have any direct reports. The successful candidate will work closely with the TIA sales team, product marketing teams and our global tire teams. Responsibilities Your key goals will be to engage the tire and rubber machinery manufacturers to gain even wider acceptance of the Siemens brand in the US Market, and to provide engineering consultation as the industry and machinery expert for this segment. Much of your time will be spent building relationships with key Tire end customers, but we also need to involve targeted OEMs, Solution Partners and machine builders in the market, getting to know the engineering staff and building a strong network of contacts throughout the segment. To start, approximately 75% of your time will be spent with warm leads or current customers, and about 25% hunting, cold calling, and mining for leads. This role has complete focus on this vertical market, and therefore we expect you to drive your function. Engage with Tire End Users to establish specification position Partner with local sales teams to grow sales at targeted accounts Learn and grow with the machine builders in the tire segment to eventually become a trusted advisor within the machinery OEM Partner with our global colleagues to expose global tire companies to US based machinery OEMs to influence the export market for the OEM Partner with product management to understand where the Siemens product families fit into the Tire segment Support transparency in the business by tracking opportunities, sales and other relevant information in the Siemens current CRM tool Develop marketing concepts and drive branding awareness in the Tire Industry Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience A bachelor’s degree in engineering, ideally Mechanical or Electrical; experience in lieu of a degree will be considered for the right candidate 7-10 years of experience in an application engineering or business development role using motion control, drives and automation products 35-50% Travel required A detailed understanding of the automation and controls organization and their processes Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience MBA Multiple year’ s experience in the tire and/or rubber industry; specifically, business development and/or sales experience with a manufacturer or distributor of motion control products within the automotive, tire or rubber industry with strong industry knowledge in relation to the machinery builders would be an ideal fit.
