Join our team now at Siemens Healthineers as a Tool and Die Design Engineer As part of the Prototype staff, the Tool & Design/AM Engineer is responsible for supporting the R&D teams by operating, setting up, and maintaining multiple additive manufacturing systems. The Additive Manufacturing Engineer will manage post processing of additively manufactured parts, manage raw material inventories, and assist the engineering staff to apply best practices for AM. This role will also be responsible for performing quality inspection and preparation of CMM reports. Responsibilities: • Support the prototype shop with the operation, setup, and maintenance of multiple additive manufacturing systems. • Perform troubleshooting and identification of machine and manufacturing issues. • Apply design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to meet manufacturing requirements. • Exercise exceptional care and skill when handling all fabrication equipment and parts. • Collaborate with engineers, machinists and management to achieve project objectives. • Follow a standardized workflow that maximizes part quality, machine up-time and production throughput. • Meet both quality and scheduling expectations. • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment by strictly adhering to the departmental procedures. • Act as the subject matter expert in cross-functional projects to solve complex technical manufacturing problems. • Aid consultation on materials engineering related topics such as material performance, secondary post-processing, heat treatment associated with the manufacture of components using various additive manufacturing technologies • Programming and operation of 3D metrology tools, CMM, 3D scanners and various measuring equipment and devices. • Perform and generates First Piece Inspections and First Article Inspections and other CMM Inspection reports in accordance with AS9100 QMS standards to determine manufacturing process effectiveness; and the ability of a process to produce conforming parts to meet all drawing requirements. • Work with vendors to coordinate inspection methods and relay information regarding parts that do not meet specifications. Preferred Skills: • Operate in a fast paced, ever changing work environment with little supervision. • Experience with additive manufacturing processes. • General knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment commonly found in a machine shop setting. • Experience with Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) is required. • Experience is a plus for operating and maintaining AM equipment including 3D Systems, Stratasys, EnvisionTec, Mark forged and FormLabs machines • Experience with CMM tools like Faro Arm and conversant with Keyence Optical Microscope, Keyence Laser Comparator etc • Proficient use of measurement tools including calipers and micrometers • GD&T is a strong requirement • Experience with NX • Strong ability to plan and organize tasks. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Exhibits proficient written and verbal communication skills for accurate documentation. • Basic to intermediate knowledge of and experience with electrical controls, preferably related to modern machine tools. • Ability to multitask while remaining efficient and accurate. • Experience with Polyworks inspector software is a plus.
