About TCI:

Timberline has completed projects ranging in size from ongoing network maintenance to multiple carrier rooftop equipment relocations in downtown Boston and the installation of a complete DAS network in the Central Artery Tunnel/Big Dig that services all carriers on one network. Whether it is coaxial cable and panel antennas for a cellular network, elliptical waveguide and high performances dishes for a microwave network or fiber optic cable and DC power for a newly emerging LTE network, we are there for our clients.

Job Summary:

The Tower Foreman is responsible for directing on-site activity of TCI and subcontractor employees. The Foreman is a “working” foreman and is required to perform the same tasks on site as other technicians. The Foreman works under the immediate supervision of the Project Manager as well as assists other foreman with safety and paperwork documentation along with closeout packages with the various clients

Job Responsibilities:

  • Help and build customer relations and train other employees on how to take care of the clients.
  • Keep up to date industry standards for all sweeping and testing to train other tower technicians.
  • Assist with other crews in the field as an as needed basis.
  • Assist Project Manager with documentation, inventory and safety for all crews along with deliveries of material.
  • Train employees on safety, testing equipment, formatting test data, close out documents’, client specifications, efficiently using computers along with computer skills.
  • Install towers using construction and rigging equipment.
  • Perform general repair and maintenance on communications towers, requiring significant travel and the ability to climb to heights in excess of 500 feet.
  • Pick-up/delivery of supplies, tools, equipment, components, etc., via company vehicle.
  • Proficient in the use of power and hand tools required for the various tasks assigned.
  • Operation of heavy machinery including man lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Ability to safely and proficiently utilize rigging equipment including cables, lines, knots, capstan, etc.
  • Knowledgeable with the means and methods and demonstrate skill in weatherproofing, connectors, ground kit use, and an overall attention to detail and quality.
  • Knowledge of towers, various types, and safety issues associated with them.
  • Understand project deliverables, cost estimates, and major milestones.
  • Develop detailed plan to complete project, including schedule of activities and projection of manpower needs, communicate and coordinate with Project Manager.
  • Schedule, inventory, and oversee delivery and use of both customer-supplied and TCI materials, tools and equipment.
  • Supervise and monitor worker productivity, including reporting hours for all personnel on jobsite. Submit daily reports recording all subcontractor and TCI activity and job site conditions to Project Manager.
  • Supervise and develop personnel, resolve employee issues, provide technical training for tower hands, and conduct “toolbox talks”.
  • Adhere to all company and industry (i.e. OSHA) health and safety standards and regulations.
  • Continue with working in the field to assist with projects and maintenances.
  • Going on road trips to assist crews for projects that are in a non-commutable location for extended days in a row.

Qualifications:

  • Must understand plans and specifications and be knowledgeable about construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Must be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be decisive and work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
  • Have the ability to coordinate several major activities at once is essential, as is an understanding of engineering, architectural and other construction drawings.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Must have manual adroitness and excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Good physical condition and stamina required.
  • Must have the ability to work independently under limited supervision.
  • Must efficiently prioritize and perform job requirements and activities based on open communication with the Project Manager and others.
  • Able to establish good working relationships with many different people, including clients, managers, subcontractors and crew.
  • The Foreman may be on call to deal with delays, the effects of bad weather, or emergencies on site.
  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of experience as Foreman in the general construction, electrical, technical, or mechanical field preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills, ability to apply common sense reasoning, good verbal and written communication skills.
  • OSHA 30-hour, CPR and first aid training preferred. (Company provided training.)
  • DOT Medial certificate
  • COM Train, Anritsu Sweep testing, PIM testing and fiber optic testing certifications a plus.
