Job Description

With our recent acquisition of RailTerm, we are growing our team and hiring a Track Roadmaster. RailTerm is a North American corporation that provides rail operation services, including dispatching, track and signal maintenance, and intermodal terminal management. The company also provides signals, communications, and software systems and licenses the TrainMaster Rail Traffic Control (RTC) software to independent railroads. The Roadmaster is responsible for evaluating existing track conditions on an assigned territory and providing recommendations/input on measures that will be required to ensure uninterrupted and safe train operations. In this leadership role, you will be the voice of RailTerm’s work quality programs, safety culture, and compliance (remember – you’re the role model!) and be an ambassador of the company when interacting with customers, suppliers, and employees. You will need to report and raise all accidents/incidents and participate in the investigation/review processes while guiding the maintenance forces within your territory. Responsibilities: Perform regulatory and mandatory track inspections, take corrective actions when required, complete track inspection reports, and report unsafe conditions Support mechanized geometry testing and rail flaw detection testing on the assigned territory Perform quality control inspections related to tracking work, track programs, and other projects In collaboration with the Track Quality Manager, you will analyze all existing track inspections (visual, mechanical, and external audits) and undertake pertinent condition monitoring (rail wear, tie counts, ballast, and vegetation surveys) to ascertain specific maintenance program requirements for the territory. Assist and interact with customers, federal and provincial authorities, or other third parties upon need. Carry out Performance Monitoring and Rules Compliance (PMRC) activities Perform administrative duties concerning the track inspection process (monitor inspections, enter the database, analyze all information on the infrastructure condition and prepare work program recommendations). Required Skills and Qualifications: 10+ years of related work experience (Track Maintainer, Foreman, or Supervisor), including performing regulatory track inspections Track Inspection Guidelines Qualification (TIG) Thorough understanding of track geometry, track standards, recommended work methods, continuous welded rail, and track safety requirements.
