The Role

National Instruments has an immediate opening for Trade Compliance Engineer to manage daily trade compliance import and export operations including reviewing classifications and applying import/export certifications. This position also covers the participations in different customs related activities and projects. The successful candidate should have rich experience in customs classification and import/export certification management of Electrical and Mechanical products or work experience. The position requires the ability to understand technical and regulatory concepts in customs and logistics under the supervision of CHT Trade Facilitation Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead China classification team on classifying & determining products classification and import/export certification requirements.
  • Lead China classification team to apply CCC or CCC out of scope, energy label/energy label out of scope and management of different certifications based on products import/export certification requirements.
  • Support local China shipping team for daily import/export clearance questions, help stable the process and minimize compliance risk.
  • Manages to obtain pre-classification opinions and registrations according to Company classification strategy.
  • Advice proper classification strategy based on China customs regulation change, be responsible for classification process and procedure of local company.
  • Cooperate with the customer and internal colleagues in manufacturing and sales/services operations to ensure excellent customer satisfaction
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable trade compliance regulations, including local trade regulations pertaining to import and export, classification
  • Lead China classification team to manage Taiwan/Hong Kong Classification & Certification.
  • Supporting China Customs Manager in interacting with local customs authorities and other applicable governmental agencies and officials on behalf of NI
  • Travelling frequency 5%
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • The candidate ideally has more than 8 years’ work experience in HS Code classification or import/export certification management of Electrical and Mechanical products
  • Ability to learn classification and import/export certification management strategy of NI and be able to answer classification/certification inquiries with cooperation with NI Global Classification Group and local Application Engineering Group.
  • Ability to detect business risk, gaps and propose the needed solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Business Applications (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.); ERP applications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Preferred Major: Engineering).
  • Strong ability to communicate in English and team work.
