Job Description

Facilitate logistical aspects of commodity contract administration and execution by coordination with respective trading desks, producers/manufacturers and 3PL providers.


Arrange and track daily truck, rail, and ocean shipments between producers, storage facilities including LME/Comex warehouses, ports and consumers.


Plan and execute logistics solutions which meet the highest level of efficiency, cost effectiveness and optimal customer service including storage and freight rate negotiations.


Approve costs and invoices associated with the execution of contracts; calculate expense accruals and physical execution of metal movements as they relate to Company’s businesses and update these in the system


Develop and maintain relationships with service suppliers, producers and customers in a manner which creates operational synergies across the supply chain. Ensure logistics capacity availability is sufficient to meet contractual obligations regardless of seasonal factors.


Maintain internal records including inventory and in transit reporting along with title transfer documents. Periodic reconciliation of inventory records for reporting to traders, credit and treasury as well as various external interested parties.


Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable in a timely manner

Maintain and distribute storage and freight cost database in order to facilitate timely and accurate trading decisions.


Record VAT reporting in conjunction with Accounting.


Preparation and execution of Letter of Credit documentation


Responsible for timely releases, invoicing and other document execution to counterparties as well as subsequent coordination of payments with the treasury department.


Liaise with other departments including trading, treasury, risk, credit, accounting and IT.

Special projects and additional responsibilities/administrative functions as assigned


We are looking for a Traffic Operator who will be responsible of all aspects of executing physical contracts/shipments.

Key Responsibilities


- Making sure that the commercial contracts are executed by all concerned parties- Written and verbal daily contact with suppliers, receivers and service providers

  • Co-coordinating the shipments with our customers and suppliers
  • Issuing and taking releases to and from international and domestic warehouses
  • Preparation and handling of all shipping documents
  • Invoicing while observing and maintaining payments terms (Holding Certificates, CAD, Letters of Credit, Bank collections, Open Account etc)
  • Checking and arranging payments
  • Handling claims by mediating and coordination with all parties involved
  • Arranging for inspection, sampling, assaying and umpires of the various products
  • Organization and coordination of shipments by vessel, truck, rail, multimodal through direct contact with shipping lines, warehouses, owners, brokers, etc
  • Checking and calculating demurrage/dispatch
  • Being in regular contact with brokers, shipping agents, stevedores
  • Maintenance of Credit lines, Shipping lists, Debtor Reports and Exposure Sheets


Knowledge Skills and Abilities


  • Educated to degree level 2:1 in Mathematics / Statistics / Economics or a related subject, ideally with initial work experience.
  • Fluent English essential as daily contact with traders and internal departments is conducted in English
  • Strong communication skills and numeral literacy are very important
  • Ability to be flexible and work to deadlines and under pressure
  • Accurate and efficient working style with good attention to detail to complete the daily processes
  • Open Personality with energy and drive
  • IT skills: Excel, Word, Outlook,
