In this exciting environment an opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Traffic Signal Inspector to join our project team in Miami, Florida. Position Overview Yunex Traffic is seeking to hire an expert Traffic Signal Inspector to assess existing infrastructure and survey site conditions for an effective execution of field work for our project in the Miami, FL area. Under direct, or general supervision, this position will be responsible for providing complex field inspection, surveying, and evaluations to traffic signalized intersections and related equipment in order to verify safety, maintenance, conditions, functions, and quality of the Customers signal systems. Requirements Knowledge Fundamental concepts associated with the inspection of traffic signal systems. Principles, methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repair of devices used in traffic signals and street lighting. Components and parts of electronic and electrical devices used in traffic control equipment. Basic design and construction practices and methods of traffic signal and control and street lighting systems, is required. Principles, methods, and practices in the design of traffic signals and signal phasing, is helpful. Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Occupational hazards and safety equipment and practices related to the work. Safety equipment and practices related to the work, including safe driving rules and practices. Modern office practices, methods, computer equipment and applications related to the work. Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by optimally taking care of the public, vendors, contractors, and City staff. Abilities Read and interpret engineering plans, technical drawings, specifications, and maps. Apply technical knowledge and follow accurate traffic signal operation practices and procedures. Supervise and participate in installation, inspection, maintenance, and related projects in the assigned functional area(s). Plan, schedule, assign, and coordinate activities of traffic signal and control installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair personnel. Inspect the work of others and maintain established quality control standards. Train others in accurate and safe work procedures. Identify and implement effective course of action to complete assigned work. Safely and optimally use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools required for the work. Use computers and software used in traffic signal controllers. Determine priorities and make independent judgments in emergency situations. Maintain accurate logs, records, and basic written records of work performed. Operate a motor vehicle safely. Follow department policies and procedures related to assigned duties. Give, as well as, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Prioritize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines. Ability to move supplies and equipment of up to 75 lbs Ability and willingness to work at heights typically associated with installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signals and streetlights Ability to pass a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical exam and drug test May be required to get bucket truck operator certification Ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks in a fast paced environment Knowledge of Miami Dade County Traffic Signal and Specs Standards Basic knowledge of NEC standards Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to acquire the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to Associate of Arts degree in civil engineering, drafting, surveying, or related field and demonstrated ability in installation, inspection, maintenance, and/or repair of traffic signal and street lighting devices, including one (1) year of lead experience being responsible for field crews. Licenses and Certifications Possess and maintain a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Traffic Signal Technician Certification. Possess and maintain a valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Inspector Level I (Florida Edition) Possess Journeyman Electrician License helpful (Miami Dade County or Reciprocating County) Possess and/or ability to acquire Miami-Dade Master Electrician License within 3 months of hire. FDOT MOT Certification Valid Florida State Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record. Yunex Traffic recognizes that building a diverse workforce is critical to the success of our business.
