IKEA Transport & Logistics Services organization is approximately 500 persons globally with purchase volume of 2.8 billion Euros, working in the category dimension of Land, Ocean and Logistics Services. We are responsible for, plan, purchase, operate and follow up the service execution of transports and services. Securing the needed logistics services capacity at the right time, with the right quality, at the right cost and in a sustainable way; to continuously contribute to the goal of having 100% satisfied IKEA customers. Transport & Logistics Services has a new dimension with responsibility for end-to-end Flow Development based on 3 pillars: Optimization, Planning and Performance.

The role of Transport & Logistics Area Central Europe is to plan, purchase, operate and control transport of finished products from production units located in our area to all IKEA stores and warehouses worldwide.

We do it in order to fulfil the transport performance demands by providing the transportation means in a cost efficient and operationally excellent way securing our sustainability standards among service providers.

Our geographic scope of operations covers: Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Serbia and Moldavia.

Our goal is to deliver seamless transport performance into areas of operational excellence, cost, supplying quality and sustainability.

Job Description

The purpose of the job is to secure and continuously improve service provider's operational performance in all respects (as defined by set of relevant KPIs) within an agreed frame/conditions, and maximize the optimization potential related to service provider’s production costs - in close cooperation with business partners and relevant supply chain stakeholders within Transport & Logistics Services, mainly with Logistical Operations Developer function.

  • Secures service provider's operational performance in all respects (as defined by relevant KPIs, in relation to capacity, precision, qualitative parameters, claims, safety, etc.).
  • Identifies, monitors & implements relevant actions.
  • Together with service providers and internal supply chain stakeholders secures optimal usage of agreed/available transport capacity vs planned/needed capacity. 
  • Active work with capacity forecasting (mid- and short-term).
  • Identifies service provider’s production constraints due to peaks, volume fluctuations, etc. Likewise, together with Logistics Operations Developer, finds optimal solutions leading to securing needed capacity at lowest total cost.
  • Supports Business Developer with Tender/other procurement activity's preparation & implementation.
  • "Ad hoc" purchasing activities. Within the mandate given, contributes to securing capacity in unforeseen situations.
  • Monitors and secures execution of signed contracts vs. agreed terms & conditions. Performs compliance/spot checks at service providers to verify compliance with given parameters, such as quality of equipment, safety and security, etc.
  • Builds trustful long-term relations with external parties.
  • Acts as IKEA ambassador when communicating with service providers.

Qualifications

  • University degree or during studies, eventual equivalent of proven business experience (Transport, Logistics, Economics, Business Administration).
  • High interest in logistics and supply chain operations supported by relevant professional experience, minimum 1 year experience with handling external providers.
  • Comfortable in transport industry, following market development and keen on implementing new logistic solutions.
  • Good knowledge about how to build and evaluate fact-based business cases.
  • High analytical capabilities, ability to draw conclusions based on data and provided facts.
  • A team player and always ready to take initiative and responsibility beyond your defined scope.
  • Capability to build trustful and long term external relationships.
  • Creativity in mind and always challenging existing set-ups.
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken, second foreign language will be an asset.
  • Very well structured and well organized.
  • Result and goal orientation.
  • Very good computer software skills, MS Excel proficiency is a must.
