Job Description Summary

The Transportation Manager of the Sparks North American Regional Distribution Center is directly responsible for the leadership, administration and overall transportation operating performance at the 26 Loveton Distribution Center, supporting several domestic and international internal and external customers and their diverse requirements.

Leading a department consisting of two direct and seven indirect associates responsible for Transportation Operations which includes the management of third party carrier partners across several modes of transportation; Truckload, LTL, Parcel, Ocean, Rail, Inter-modal, Cold Chain, etc..  The Sparks Transportation team is an integral function as part of the overall End-to-End Supply Chain who operates for the benefit of the whole with a “Think Customer” mindset. Responsible for operational performance against an approximate $19MM Transportation spend while meeting and improving service levels to our customers. Develops, implements, and manages performance of function against defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Metrics focused on Customer Experience, Cost Improvements, and Efficiency.  Identifies, leads, monitors Continuous Improvement Programs/Initiatives.

Strong knowledge of all modes of Transportation (FTL, LTL, Ground, Air/Express, Ocean, Courier, Rail, Intermodal).  Knowledgeable in Hazardous Materials Certification: DOT, IATA and IMDG. Strong understanding and working knowledge of Distribution Receiving, Warehousing, and Shipping functions; Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and Warehouse/Transportation Management tools (WMS/TMS). SAP preferred. 

Proven analytical and interpersonal skills, including the capability to work across multiple functional areas to influence change or to achieve desired results. 

Must demonstrate BD Values, Customer focus, action/results orientation, strong communication skills, and ability to seek input and feedback from others. SAP / TMS working knowledge preferred. Strong PC Skills (Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Qualifications

  • Preferred: BS degree in Transportation/Supply Chain/Logistics or Business. 
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in Transportation and/or Supply Chain Logistics. Direct experience in a highly regulated industry preferred.  Demonstrated experience with ERP-based WMS/TMS applications.APICS-type certification (i.e., CSCP) or advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory/management level preferred.
