Job Overview
 
Be part of a multinational project team to optimize Transportation Logistics Procurement activities for all Daimler entities in North American. Worldwide Transportation is responsible to manage the total transportation service budget of Daimler in North America to provide the best transportation solutions possible. 

Responsibilities
 
- Be part of a multinational project team to optimize Transportation Logistics Procurement activities for all Daimler entities in North American.


- Worldwide Transportation is responsible to manage the total transportation service budget of Daimler in North America to provide the best transportation solutions possible.


- Plan transportation networks, procure logistics services, and manage contracts for MB-USA/-USI logistics partners necessary to support port agreements, finished vehicle transportation requirements and special projects.


- Support the execution of the Daimler logistics strategy and key strategic initiatives by planning and purchasing transportation services in alignment with Daimler policies and procedures.


- Develop logistics concepts, gather and validate data, create tender specifications, manage bidder lists, tender and negotiate with transportation service providers. 

- Provide decision process support with steering committees/top management presentations, and perform contract management.


- Align transportation logistics concepts, strategies, and savings initiatives with affected MB and Daimler North American stakeholders including material planning, supplier management, controlling, and production.


- Provide information about status of project goals and milestones including the financial transparency and reporting necessary to forecast and control transportation costs.


- Lead continuous improvement activities within the team as needed.

 
 
  
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics Management or related field from an accredited university/college with 3+ years of related experience required


- 1 year of group lead / project lead / mentoring experience preferred.


- Willingness to work flexible hours/work schedule and ability to travel domestically and internationally required


- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint required. 


- An attached resume is required.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data organization, data scrubbing, data management, and process mapping and design preferred


- Experience in project management, negotiations, transportation logistics or related areas preferred

- Knowledge of transportation logistics processes and concepts preferred.


- Very good intercultural intelligence and people skills preferred.

- Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing industry and logistics preferred.
