Wandering China is a media and publishing company, specializing in travel writing and cultural exchange. We are based in Beijing and travel across the whole of China. 

Who we are looking for:

- Skilled, talented, culturally engaged English language writers who are passionate about travel to work on a freelance basis. As part of our team, our freelance writers enrich cross-cultural engagement and discover the intricacies of China through diverse perspectives. At Wandering China, we are culturally engaged and keenly curious about people, places, experiences and their meanings. 

Responsibilities:

- Articles of 500-600 words. 
- Working with our editorial team, you have creative freedom to craft your own voice. 
- Submissions are to be written in one of three Wandering China strands:
➢ Wander Articles: Travel pieces, expressing the writer’s impressions and perspectives of a place
➢ Local Voices: Interview pieces which gather views from locals and people of interest.
➢ Cultural Differences: In-depth explorative opinion pieces, focusing on issues of social and cultural interest.
- 3-4 original photos per articles.
- Wandering China provides weekly themes as inspiration to the regular writers. 
- Duration of the internship: 2 months. You will have to submit one article per week. You can work from home, no need to come to the office. As compensation, you will receive a Wandering China work certificate and a 6 months’ membership. With our membership, you will be able to join our monthly culture salon without a cost and also to participate in numerous entertaining events and more travels with an amazing discount.
- To our most valued and consistent freelance writer contributors, Wandering China offers the consideration for traveling field work in Writers Group Tours, opportunities to be published in our monthly magazines, act as host editor for the magazine, and book project contributions.

Skills:

- Although no previous travel writing experience is needed, writers should possess excellent English language writing skills.
- Have the ability to spot a story in an unexpected place.
- Be creative, with an engaging writing style. 
- Be passionate about travel and curious about culture.
- Organized and able to work towards deadlines, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Collaborative, with the ability to work closely with the editorial team.
