Job Description

The Applied Immigration team is within our Global Mobility organization within Human Resources, which provides a wide range of assistance to the business. We are looking for a U.S. immigration Specialist to join the Applied Immigration team and offer a high level of customer service to our employee’s, management, HR Partners, and Talent Acquisition team, while always strategizing on how to improve the immigration program.

Key Responsibilities

As the lead for the U.S. immigration program, you will utilize a strong working knowledge of immigration policies and procedures to recommend the appropriate immigration strategy to managers and HR Business Partners to proceed with a case in various situations including H-1B CAP Change of Status versus Consular Processing, loss of work authorization, and PERM processing.  

  • Review and sign all applicable non-immigrant visa (NIV) and immigrant visa (IV) applications and petitions in partnership with Applied’s global immigration vendor to ensure accuracy.
  • Review and sign all U.S. B-1 business invitation letters to ensure within the guidelines.
  • Interact with foreign nationals on a regular basis and coordinate with Applied’s global immigration vendor, management, and/or HRBP’s, when appropriate, to respond and/or escalate inquiries and/or concerns brought to our attention.
  • Partner with Applied’s global immigration vendor to provide in-depth immigration guidance on U.S. immigration to foreign nationals, management, HRBP’s, and Talent Acquisition team.
  • Deliver a high-quality and consistent level of service to employees, new hires, management, HR Partners, and Talent Acquisition.   
  • Identify, recommend, and provide methods to resolve problems, update, simplify, enhance, and optimize existing processes, procedures, and policies for continuous improvements to the immigration program.
  • Coordinate regular learning sessions and material, including virtual town-halls, virtual office hours, webinars, ad-hoc immigration updates/communications, and quarterly newsletters for foreign national population, management, HR Partners, and Talent Acquisition team for continued education, understanding, and compliance.
  • Review weekly I-9 report and reach out accordingly to F-1 visa holders with details on how and when to complete their I-983, as well as update Applied’s global immigration vendor.
  • Maintain Public Access files and perform spot audits.  
  • Review, post, and remove LCA’s in coordination with Applied’s global immigration vendor provided details.
  • Partner with Applied’s global immigration vendor and the internal compensation team to request salary surveys for associated employer-sponsored petitions.  

Qualifications

  • B.S. level degree, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years immigration support experience in an immigration law practice or with corporate immigration team including experience with large volume immigration programs and understanding of NIV and IV immigration processes.  
  • Understands visa bulletin and priority dates.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, analyze data and risks, and make decisions.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely articulate immigration matters to all levels of the organization.
  • Self-starter and eager to exceed objectives and take on more responsibility.
  • Forward-thinking and exercising judgement and discretion while using company policies and practices to analyze situations, spot potential issues and determine appropriate action. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams (Preferred). 
  • Experience with Workday (Preferred).
