Reporting to the Senior Manager, European Customs, you will work with the Regional Customs and Trade Managers based in the US and Sweden on Customs matters key to the AZ Group. You will be primarily responsible for providing support for Customs compliance for the UK entity.
Responsibilities:
To maintain an outstanding level of compliance by performing periodic management checks.
Be the key contact with the AZ Customs Broker and other logistics providers to facilitate Customs clearance of the goods imported from EU and ROW countries.
To provide advice and training to personnel within the Business who are involved in activities with Customs and/or Excise implications to ensure compliance with relevant laws and minimization of duty payments where legally permissible.
To identify legal opportunities for duty elimination/minimisation and any other Customs-related cost savings, including appropriate actions to realise these savings.
To work with Operations, R&D, Finance etc. personnel on Customs, Valuation and Origin issues to ensure that Customs requirements are fully met.
Monitor proposed Customs legislation and regulations that may affect the AstraZeneca group and prepare written analysis of the same.
Essential Requirements:
You will have considerable relevant Customs experience preferably in a corporate or professional environment.
Previous experience in crafting an organisations customs capability covering supply chain, conduct Customs audits, and dispute management and implementation of Customs Duty regimes and ongoing operational efficiency.
You will have a deep understanding of Customs law and its application to valuation, origin, classification and duty reliefs.
Demonstrates the ability to take a strategic view while bringing to bear appropriate focus on the underlying detail.
You will apply good judgement and be able to make timely decisions and recommendations regarding potentially material issues in circumstances where there is either uncertainty or incomplete information.
