As UX Designer at ABB Robotics, you will play a key role with other skilled and engaged designers. We at ABB Robotics design, develop, manufacture and market robots and related control systems, software, arc welding products, tracks and motor packages. We employ some 600 people in Sweden, primarily V？ster？s. More than 90 per cent of our production goes to export and our customers include all major auto manufacturers. The auto industry, its sub-suppliers, and to an increasing extent, general industry, such as the food and beverage segment, are major users of robot-based automation. Welding, machine tending, material handling, grinding, packaging and assembly are the most common applications. Robot and robot system sales are conducted through local ABB companies, independent system integrators and OEMs – our partner companies.

Your challenges

As UX/Interaction Designer you are responsible for the whole human-centric design cycle in our R&D projects: Conducting user research, analyzing emerging needs, conceptualizing interactions from creating user flows and wireframes to building user interface mockups and prototypes, and ensuring that the outcome is well-suited to cover the end-user needs. Your role requires collaboration with teams of engineers and product managers throughout the design process. You are a natural collaborator and an excellent communicator, able to develop and present design ideas in an international team environment and to our global stakeholders.

You will join a strong team of experienced designers, programmers and system analysts who work on the development and quality assurance of our software products. One of the main challenges we face on an ongoing basis is the simplification of programming for our robots. Together with the team and our electrical and mechanical engineers, you will develop new solutions that will drive the future of robotics.

Your profile

Your UX experience is matched by your aptitude to work, coach and train others. An MA/M.Sc. in Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related discipline is required. You have more than a solid professional experience with a proven track record of creating delightful UX designs that you can demonstrate with a strong portfolio. But more importantly, you share our passion for industrial challenges, intelligent robots and you want to change the world. You are a creative, curious and analytical problem solver. As a true team player, you are communicative, collaborative and positive and thrive in a role where you can take initiative – all to contribute to our future success. Strong communication skills in English, both written and oral, are also essential.
